Paul Robeson - Anna Lee - Walk! Video

Brief clip from King Solomon's Mines! H. Rider Haggard's novel, filmed with amazing Paul Robeson and lovely Anna Lee. From 1937, Paul still rules with his magnificent voice and manner. Great fun, exciting, and unique!

nmcaia: Hmmm- it looked like the oxen were the chorus! H. Rider Haggard was guilty pleasure of mine, along with William Henry Hudson and "Green MAnsions." (BTW Audrey Hepburn starred as Rima in the movie.)
11777766: Robeson was among the great American singers, one of the first blacks to gain public acceptance and popularity. Then he threw it away by turning to communism and the Soviet Union.
EbenezerIan123: Wonderful! I have the film & others from the 30s. I grew up with Paul's music on 78s. His communism was his concern for the oppressed people, not least the descendants of the slaves who built America. He was silenced for 8 years by McCarthy.
