Taken - Chapter 28 Video
Just read the story, I have nothing to say.
---
"Maybe one day you'll see what I mean. I hope for you that day won't come."
"It will never. I love them too much for that."
"It doesn't matter how much you love them. Sometimes it's just better to forget them. It's not like they would care or find out."
"Maybe they wouldn't find out, but they would care. It's your family, they care about you."
"Not always." I shake my head, not wanting to hear what she's suggesting. Although I don't think she's talking about my family. She's talking about hers. And it sounds like they left her.
"How old are you Denver?" I ask, trying to change the subject. She looks surprised at me and shrugs.
"I don't know. Around 17 I guess."
"You don't know how old you are?" I ask in disbelieve.
"Not exactly no." she says, shaking her head.
"How can you not know how old you are?" I ask her, still shocked.
"It's fairly easy if you don t even know what day it is. I'm not even sure what year it is." she mumbles.
"2010." I say, not knowing what else to tell her.
"That won't really help, but thanks." she says, smiling a sad little smile.
"I'm sorry." I mumble.
"It's okay. I want to forget about it anyway." she says, shrugging.
"Why? It's your birthday, your special day." As soon as I say it, I realize why she doesn't like her birthday. I wouldn't like it either if I had to spend it here.
"Just too many bad memories attached to it." she mumbles. I nod, not pressing the subject.
"And I always hated birthday parties. Those stupid brats that only were there for the cake and no one who cared about you. I'm glad I can skip that now." she says, smiling again.
"Parties get better when you get older. But those brats still show up not caring about you, the difference is that they are interested in the alcohol and not the cake." I tell her.
"That sounds like so much fun! I am so sad I have to miss it." she says sarcastically.
"Next time, I'll invite you to my birthday and we'll eat cake together and all those brats will have to wait outside in the cold, because we don't care about them." I promise her. She looks up, and her whole face lights up.
"I'd love that." she says.
"Good, because you would totally ruin my eighteenth birthday if you wouldn't come." I say, trying to sound dead serious.
"Can't let that happen, can we?" she says smiling.
"No way! If I were you, I would start looking for an awesome present now, because I am expecting something phenomenal. I am having the perfect birthday party just for you, so I want the perfect gift." She nods eagerly, completely agreeing with me.
"Of course. I'll start thinking about it right away. It will be the best birthday present ever!" she promises.
"Thanks." I tell her, smiling back at her. I think this is the first time I ever really felt happy here. Somehow, this stupid conversation about a birthday party that will never come makes me happy. I guess that's what hope does to you. It makes you happy, no matter what.
"When is your birthday?" Denver asks after a moment of silence. I can't help but to burst out laughing.
"Hey! No laughing at your guest! If I decide not to come, you won't have anyone!" she protests.
"Sorry, sorry." I say, quickly trying to compose myself.
"You're still laughing." she says accusingly, glaring at me.
"No, really, I'm not." I say, trying my hardest not to grin.
"Are you going to tell me?" she asks, raising one eyebrow.
"Oh right, September sixteenth. Save the date."
"I will."
"Good. Now we both have something to look forward to." I say and Denver nods.
"That's probably a first for me." she says.
"Is it really a first? There must be something else you once looked forward to."
"My tenth birthday." Denver says after a moment of thinking.
"Why'd you look forward to it?" I ask her, desperate to keep the conversation going. It's so nice to have someone to talk to again. Even though that person is Denver and I'm still not sure if I like or trust her. She is the only person here who can make me less miserable and I'm going to take full advantage of that now I can.
"My parents got me a puppy." she says, sounding a little bit sad. Why would anyone sad about getting a puppy?
"A puppy? That's awesome! I got a dog for my sixteenth birthday. What kind of dog is it?"
"It was a Labrador. She was just a couple of weeks old. I wasn't allowed to take her home right away, but I was thrilled anyway. I had wanted a puppy since I was 4."
"I can imagine why you were so happy. I was too when I got Elvis. Dogs really are a man's best friend."
"Yeah, I guess." she whispers. I frown. Why is she suddenly so unhappy?

NickJonasFansite101: "quotes" would be helpful cause i have no idea what they're saying or thinking
gioiaxpianogirlx: I was putting them up. They should be there right now ;)
madison50364: This gets more and more confusing every time. That's why it's so amazing. I'm glad they're actually having a conversation. It might not have been real or a good one but it was something that they shared. I'm glad she's finally even smiling and fun. The puppy thing is pretty puzzling though. It's also cute to hear Nick talk about his dog. They're adorable. Can't wait for more! It's always a pleasure to see you post. :)
NickJonasFansite101: haha okay
musicismylife500: :) That was a nice conversation. For a minute I couldn't tell if they were still being sarcastic or if they were actually serious. I hope they were serious. haha. ? Why is she so sad?? I want to know about this dog... I agree with NickJonasFansite101. There should be quotation marks to help with when they are talking. It just makes it easier to read. :)
TYx33: I can see the quotation marks :D Yaaay ^^ & Denver is cool :D So nicee to each other. Nick is getting less annoying, that's better, or else I would stop reading ;D Good Job Silke :D
ChillinCherryChic: yea dogs rock! :P i wonder why shes sad
AnnaSweetness: i wonder what happened that she was so sad about???/ POST MORE I LOVE THIS STORy!
elenpelen89: Aww!! It's so cute that they're really having a conversation! :D I think she misses her puppy! : / She probably got kidnapped shortly after.. That makes sense if she's 17 and she haven't heard of Pirates or seen the last lotr movie! (: Now I'm feeling smart!! :D
xXMsLittleSunshineXx: amazing, she probrably did get kidnapped shortly after she got her dog. im starting to think that her family has more to do with her being in there! =/ amazing as alwayys! xoxo Ari
JonasHouse09: I love the birthday thing. I can tell that this is importaint, but I really like the childish veiw this has. It's a good idea to throw into such an intese story.
coeyjbfan93: maybe she got taken after her 10th birthday, so she couldn't take her puppy home :(
x0MrsNickJonas11010x: ooh! kim is her dog!! idk haha
xJONASNESSx: aww Denver is so cool hope is good :) Whats up with her dog?
bookofathousandwords: OMG. im so loving the new denver. i hope they have more of these nice convos. :)
xxlilxxkweenxx: Aww Im liking this Denver shes cool :)
MrsJoeJonaas: awesome :)
sarahsmoothie123: oh no... why is denver sad??
alliesmiles1: Why's the story set in 2010? Any reason? Or are we waiting for it?? Lol i'm so excited that they both have something to live for and look forward to. Especially Denver, cause i mean Nick has his family. Although he seems a bit down in the dumps about that! Denver seems so nice when she's happy, but awful when shes in a bad mood. Hmm bipolar!!? lol nah i don't think so! Awesome chapter :)
gioiaxpianogirlx: It just turned out that way. I don't even know how. Somewhere I made a mistake with the time line and the only way to fix it was to make it 2010. So it was just a mistake basically.
