Vote No on Prop. 1A Video

We as CSU students want Grad Caps not Spending Caps! The Governor has called a Special Statewide Election May 19, 2009. The last day to register to vote was May 4, 2009. There are six propositions on the ballot, Prop. 1A-F.

Proposition 1A is a proposed constitutional amendment that will permanently affect the CSU by placing spending caps on higher education. If prop 1A is passes the CSU will remain under-funded forever. Since 2002 the CSU has lost almost $1Billion in state funding. Prop. 1A means that the CSU's budget will never return to even 2002 funding levels. These caps will force the 23 CSUs to
-Increase class sizes
-Offer fewer classes
-Delay graduation
-Increase fees for students
-Lay off faculty and staff members
Please note that this past year 10,000 freshmen were denied access to the CSU.
We are educating our students in K-12, but what are the CSUs, CCC, and UCs going to look like when our children graduate from high school and want to move forward in California?

We are asking you to vote NO on Proposition 1A because it is bad for our present and future students, faculty, and staff.
Why is funding CSU students education important?
Californias economy will stagnate if more people do not earn bachelors degrees. Californias economy thrives on knowledge-based innovation; higher education is key.

Too few Californians are earning four-year degrees to meet Californias future needs, and the state wont be able to import a trained work force.

Every dollar the state invests in the CSU directly generates $4.41 in spending.
CSU students and graduates generated $3.11 billion in tax revenue in 2003.
CSU, CCC, and UC students are an investment not a burden.
