Temperance Reel on the Mandolin Video

Here is a shot at the Temperance Reel -- I've played it in one form or another for quite a while -- but my version of the tune seems to have slipped off into some unused part of my conscienceness.

But the Mandolin Cafe named it song of the week so that sent me looking through the dust and cobwebs for it. This is what I found -- its not quite right and my version seems to have changed over time.

I might just have to go back to basics and relearn this tune!

Of course this song is also known as "The Teetotaler" a name given to persons who abstain from alcohol.

I went though it three times because I cannot seem to get the B section right!!

Played here on G major at 220 bpm on a 2002 Gibson F-5 Fern.

The backup is generated by a computer and is merely a series of G, Em, and D chords.

Mandolin1944: Thanks for the kind remarks. As I noted earlier I really would like to start do a few to these tunes on the tenor banjo but I find if a much more difficult insturment to play -- compared to the mandolin I mean.
