Healing Arts Celebration (2) Amsterdam 1.11.2008. Video

For six times in this year 2008, a team of international artists and organizers living in Amsterdam have been presenting benefit gatherings for the international women's organization www.MamaCash.org. Working as volunteers, we have created the Healing Arts Celebration, cultivating a community of dancers, musicians, massage and healing therapists, yogis, chefs and visual artists to offer their work for the benefit of others. Our goal is to increase the awareness of the need of healing in the world; healing ourselves, each other, the environment, and giving financial support, counseling and empowerment to those who have suffered the effects of natural disasters, war, sex slave trade and many other horrible atrocities that we simply do not think of on a daily basis. Laura Bernasconi, one of the original visionaries of the Healing Arts Celebration has been choreographing dance in the style of contemporary ballet mixed with classical Indian temple dance and yoga to the sublime, calming, invigorating and healing sound of the "hang drum" along with other acoustic instruments such as the flute, didgeridoo, sithar, tabla, mouth harp, viola, double bass, saxophone.
