ace69er: Wouldnt be Hard. Bugeras punch far above their weight. They are just built a bit flimsy to make them cheaper.

m0z666: that's true. although i think they're built fine for their price. when i ordered i expected a plastic case (cause it looked like it was plastic on pictures). but i was pleasently surprised :D and after i took a look at the inside (pcb etc.) i have to say it just looks as good as the peavey. only the components may be cheaper. i'm gonna try some new tubes. do you have a bugera?

ace69er: Not yet but I am planning to get a V55HD very soon. I WAS going to get the 333XL, but I dont play metal, and its way too over powered. Tho it IS the most versatile of the bunch. Yes a retube is a GOOD idea. The stock tubes are crappy rebranded Sovteks or chinese Shantuangs or something. GET some Tesla JJs! Pre & power big difference. Also get it biased correctly. Most seem to ship way under biased and that causes a LOT of the tube failures. Proper bias will make it sound amazing.
m0z666: i was planning to get them (at least for the power section) for the bugera since mine sounds soooo ear pearcing. (have the treble on ~2). I'm running it with the two outer tubes at the moment at 60w since one tube suddenly broke. then i checked the bias and after a research it turned out that the bugera bias pot works REVERSE. the pot was almost full open (turned to the left), then i checked the bias: ~46mA holy shit. no wonder there're so much complains about tube failure.

ace69er: That was actually TOO hot. 6L6 should run between 38-42mA! Most seem to ship at around 23mA! Way too cold. DONT use the test point. Its out by at least 20%! Use a prooper bias probe and read the actual current draw. The hotter, the better they sound but if too hot the power tubes wont last long. Thats what seems to have caused a LOT of tube failures early on, TOO underbiased. GOOD to hear you know ya stuff. I mixed a band sat 1 guitarist didnt have a clue about tubes or bias in his Marshall.
m0z666: haha yeah. i used a bias probe. bought one back then when i did the "bias mod" on my old 5150. first when my amp broke i thought "oh god please not the OT transformer connection" since the adapter tend to melt (at least on the old combos). thank god it was only one tube that blew the fuse.

ace69er: Yeah poor factory biasing seems to do that. Still, once its out of warranty, get all those power cables cut the plug and solder all the wires to the circuit board! Wont fry then!
