Jesse Jett- An Open Letter to Love (Spoken Word) Video
Copyright- 2008 They've gotta be romantic once in a while.. *An Open Letter To Love*
Having never heard you speak before,
I long to hear my name
falling softly from your lips
like so much fleeting summer rain.
And never having touched you brings a hollow sort of pain,
for while I don't know what I'm missing, I still miss it just the same.
I walk through crowds with feelers out, my senses open wide.
How many times I've brushed against what could have been my bride.
How many times I've squandered gas
for pointless midnight drives in the hopes
that at some red light I'd be there to catch your eye.
For it's just like in a movie,
all laid-out and meant to be.
The time is right,
the stars aligned,
and fate assures we meet.
But days and nights have lived and died,
while still I tour the town.
As loneliness's sojourn seeks to peel the skyline down.
And never having seen you means I watch with anxious eyes,
for the scented air of Fall affairs takes form in doctors' wives.
And when I least expect it, I will reach our fated day,
and all I ask of you, my love,
IS THAT YOU STAY AWAY.
