"Yes, and," he gulped, "what if I want to propose to her on the cruise?"

He waited for a reaction, but they were put on mute by shock. Nick's eyes were wide and Joe's mouth was dropped.

"Yeah, I think it's too soon. What do you think?" Kevin wondered.
One corner of Nick's mouth lifted to ease Kevin's disappointment, "Whatever you want to do. If you love her, go ahead."
"I say yes, but call Mom and Dad," Joe responded, "They have to know, too."

Kevin nodded. After that, more silence. They continued packing, but all Kevin could hear was thumping. When he was done packing, he went down his fire pole to call his parents. Anxiety made his fingertips turn soft and hot as he dialed the number.

His mother picked up, "Hello?"
"Hi, Mom."
"Hello, Kevin."
"Mom, I don't know if you remember Danielle Deleasa-"
"Oh I do. She was our neighbor in Wyckoff."
"Yes. I met her here."
"You did?"
"Yes and well... I'm having really strong feelings for her."
"Oh Kevin-"
"You should know that we said we loved each other before she went to that adoption home in New York. So... it can make sense to propose to her right?" Silence.
"You're growing up so fast," she hesitated, "Do you really want to marry her?"
"Yes, I do."
"Then you must talk to her parents. I'll tell your father... When do you plan to have the wedding?"
"As soon a possible- which is probably months. I should tell you we're going on a cruise."
"Just you and Danielle?"
"No, no. Joe, Nick, Danielle, and her sisters Jen and Claire."
"Clarisse Parker? The one from 2006?"
"You remember!"
"Of course! She's dating-"
"Nick. She's Nick's girlfriend. Jen and Joe are together, too. Since we wanted to go somewhere besides Florida, but something tropical like Florida, we decided to go on a cruise."
"Okay, that's fine as long as you watch them, okay?"
"So you're good with the proposal and the vacation?"
"Tell their parents. You don't have that much freedom."
He chuckled, "Okay, okay... You don't think it's too soon?"
"When did you meet?"
"Like a week ago."
"Well you knew each other as kids... it's fine. If you love her that much then go. Did you get the ring?"
"No. I was just thinking about it a few days ago."
"After twenty-one years, I think she's the one."
"Really Mom?"
"You said you love her."
"I do." His heart stopped pounding. "Thanks, Mom. Bye."
"Bye." They both hung up.

He smiled and was relaxed. Thinking about his mom brining up the right, he turned around to go back up the stairs to grab his keys, but Nick and Joe were standing there.

"Where you standing there the whole time?" Kevin asked.
"That doesn't matter. So what're you gonna do now?" Nick threw Kevin his keys and smiled.
"I'm gonna buy a ring," Kevin smiled and walked out the door.
Joe shook his head, "Wow. This happens all in one night... Well I'm just gonna go to bed. The boat has a swimming pool right?"
Nick looked confused, "Yeah, why?"
Joe closed his eyes, and slowly let out a breath "Jen in a bikini."
"You're a perv," Nick pushed him and went upstairs.

The next day, the guys went to the girls' hotel at six AM. Joe grabbed Jen out of the gym and they went to Dani's suite. Dani was already ready.

She swung her backpack over her shoulder, "Claire's still sleeping."
"What room?"
Dani gave him her pass to Claire's room, "Room to the left."
"Okay," Nick said and left the room.

He opened the door to Claire's room and found her in a tube top and pajama shorts on the bed with her blanket on the floor. Her hair didn't cover her face, and her lips looked plumper than usual. Without closing the door, he walked to the bed smiling and crawled on top of her.

"Claire, wake up," he whispered in her ear. She didn't move.
Joe came into the room, "What are you doing?"
Nick blushed, "Waking her up."
"Well then this is how you do it," Joe smirked and walked to the bed, pushing Nick off of Claire. He picked her up so she was being carried bridal style in his arms, away from the bed. He pulled her up so his face was close to hers.
"What the hell are you doing?" Nick was about to grab her back, but Joe dropped her onto the floor.
"OW!" she woke up and saw Joe laughing. "This is why I can't trust you. You're such a-"
"Let's go!" Jen was in the doorway and really hyper.
Claire looked at her funny, "I didn't even put on my 'go-out' clothes. Neither did you!"
Jen stopped smiling and went to her room to change.
"Um..." Nick held out.
"Soda, sugar, and cookies," Claire listed.

When everyone was ready, they grabbed the luggage and went to the lobby. After loading everything into Kevin's minivan, they squeezed into the car's tiny space.

An hour later, they were on a dock about to go onto the ship.
