A senior Iranian prosecutor accused three Americans detained on the border with Iraq of espionage on Monday, the first signal that Tehran intends to put them on trial. (Nov. 9)

ChichiriMuyo: There's absolutely no good reason for Americans to be on vacation in Iraq. If those three aren't spies then they are most likely the three dumbest people in the world. Iran should hold on to them until the US backs down on the nuclear issue completely.

You obviously don't live in California, because in this state you cant go anywhere without seeing a poor illegal immigrant having their bottoms rubbed because they have it so rough. Leaving blind nationalism aside, II will concede that these people likely committed a misdemeanor by not crossing the right border. What is unacceptable is the Iranians going and charging these people with espionage simply because of who they were. It's hard to see this as anything more than typical Iranian bellicosity.

BxStud84: That's your problem. You only care about Americans. When a foreigner gets shot, you don't care. When a 14 year old Iraqi girl gets RAPED and then KILLED by American soldiers, you don't care. So why do you expect the world to care about these three hooligans?

The US is supposed to be a civilized country and treat people who come here illegally or not as human beings. These two countries have had no problem killing US citizens in the past. Sarastro42: That was what I was trying to point out. I will confess that most Americans are painfully indifferent to the plight of the rest of the world. It almost seems a guaranteed part of the national character. American provinciality aside, these people are being unjustly imprisoned and charged with crimes that they didn't commit.
