Catherine the Great Video
Czarina Catherine II, Empress and Autocrat of all the Russias, she was born in 1729 and was, for a short time, married to Czar Peter III whom she overthrew in a palace coup. An enlightened, intolerant, progressive, autocratic nymphomaniac she was large and in charge from 1762 to 1796. Under her reign the Russian Empire expanded considerably, streamlined its internal administration and continued to update and modernize along European lines. Admired by some, loathed by others, feared by all Catherine the Great was a force to be reckoned with!
MadMonarchist: My favorite Catherine the Great movie quote, "Oh, I agree, there's nothing like a good peasant."
steeps24: Indeed! Three words: Orthodoxy, Autocracy, Nationality.
