BMW M3 E46 (2004) - Episode #17 - MotorMouth.TV Video
"The Staple"
Note: Be careful what you READ on the E46 M3. There are several versions. For example: the Euro spec and US spec versions.
Correction: My mistake :( in the video I say V6 (I was just so pumped!!!) but it is obviously an inline 6 cylinder.
Top 4 reasons to buy:
1. M3 = One of the greatest of all time, timeless & fun.
2. Fantastic fit and finish.
3. Blue print handling.
4. 333 horse's that love to giddy up!
Top 4 reasons not to buy:
1. You hate performance cars, you love your lexus.
2. SMG (you can only drive automatic)
3. Out of your budget.
4. RWD + rain+ 333hp scares the $*#@ out of you.
Other cars to consider: I guess Audi S4 (probably not, but great alternative for all wheel drive), and Mercedes Benz C32 or Mercedes Benz C55

motormouthtv: Sorry to hear you didnt like my review
motormouthtv: Sorry to hear you didnt like my review. If you read through my comments with people it explains the "automatic" phrasing.
motormouthtv: i all honesty, if you read the lil brief in the begging i explain why i caleed it a V6 and not an inline. I talk about cars for so many hours per day and different cars a slipped on a thing or 2 there. However, i think if people open their mind to the overall info about the video and r less defensive they will see i am giving alot of love to the M3. I just wouldnt want some one to buy it not understanding what to expect from the drive.
motormouthtv: well lets see, i am able to see all the cars and how they change over the years, and also see how they depreciate differently. I'm guessing you own an SMG and just disappointed to hear some of the things I have to say. Sorry for that. but then again your 20 and probably have never driven one.
TheGunner11: You clearly know nothing about M3s, this is just depressing to watch. Stop posting your trash.
motormouthtv: sorry you dont like the video. please feel free not to watch future videos
collegedr: Try this. Put it in first gear , put the pedal to the floor and do nothing else ... you will see that you automatically sit at the rev limiter and automatically bag a perfectly good engine and would have automatically shifted if you automatically told it to.. Good lord man, give your head a shake. My keyboard must be automatic since it does not have a cable connecting it to my computer.
NikolaiDelov: @motormouthtv I'm just saying, please do A BIT of research before reviewing a car. Especially if it's 8 years old and has a huge cult following. OK, it's not a V6, it's an I6, it's not a 3.3, it's a 3.2, The SMG is not an auto and it's not clutchless, it has the same exact 6-speed and same clutch as the regular manual. The car is not made to be driven in an auto mode, just to have one in case you're in traffic to ease your shifting. The 325 feels slower because it has HALF the power.
ccannizz11: I know. But when you make factual mistakes, you lose credibility. When someone with little credibility goes on to criticize any aspect of the car he's mistaken about, then it's not going to be taken very well. Even if it is the "conventional wisdom" (which is wrong more often than not) in the car industry, the SMG is not an auto tranny. I get what you were trying to say. I'm just trying to explain the response you're getting, which isn't really congruent with the response to your other videos.
motormouthtv: I appreciate the feedback, truly. I stand by alot of what i say, I just have to respect other peoples opinions. I grew up on a car lot, so any whole sale buyer is going to consider the SMG an automatic in terms of value- and thats what i go buy. I understand why the BMW community wouldnt like that, but the videos are just my personal take.
motormouthtv: not that it makes it better, you will see in the description I say that it was a quick error and that the motor is an inline 6. I appreciate the healthy feedback. Again, if you read through some of my response comments i explain my take on the SMG a little more in depth. Appreciate touching back with me
TheGunner11: Yup, don't plan on it. Just trying to help other people avoid making the mistake of wasting their time on this like I did.
NikolaiDelov: @motormouthtv I obviously like that it's a very positive review of the car, but you have SO MANY things wrong, I think you should check your facts, delete this video and re-do it. Plus, doing 40-50 on a highway ramp isn't enough to put a GT car through it's paces. There are hundreds of reviews of this car, Edmunds and Fifth Gear did used car reviews that had mistakes in them, but they have the credibility to get away with it, you don't. If you're trying to be serious, this needs to be re-done.
downit86: haha you were told wrong sir. its always been a 3.2L
AMORT312: dude you dont know shit about m3's....stop making videos
mikericboetius: motormouthtv, you are an idiot. Learn a little about what you are talking about before you try to "teach" others about it. "BMW owned the world... most relaiable". What? You have no idea what you are talking about. I have been in the auto industry for 15 years. I also happen to own a 2006 M3 Competition package with SMG. You are a lost cause.
mikericboetius: "I was told" I think you acquired most of your information in this manner.
mikericboetius: Since you claim to want to post "correct" information, may I suggest that you wikipedia the car you are going to talk about before you post anything. At least that way you can be about 80% accurate and spare the internet of another idiot repeating B.S. that they were told or heard in some chat room. Since you are such an avid racer, may I suggest you post racing video going forward and leave the talking to those qualified to do so.
motormouthtv: Hey Sorry to see you didnt like the video. What part of the car industry did you work in? You should know that BMW did own the luxury car market from late 90's to mid 2000's and that they were building the most reliable German car (its a compliment). Additionally you should also know that SMG BMW are hitting for 3k back of wholesale book (minimum--wikipedia wont tell you that). I hope you enjoy your 06, if you have the competition package I'm sure you've tracked it--its a racing machine.
greekcs: I LOVE LAMP
nitinopp: I'll give you some credit for trying. But unfortunately you got so much wrong. As an e46 m3 owner I was so annoyed at everything wrong I shut it off. Please delete this vid, do some research, and try try again. Good luck
Imperatore7777: Wow that was bad you know nothing about this car please take this video off it's full of errors. Guess what the fastest E46 M3 the CSL uses this "shit" smg as you call it. You know nothing stop pretending that you do.
bootx21: if you're trying to start some sort of blogging venture to make money you should seriously but more time into R and D. You're making yourself sound ridiculous and not in a good way. I drive an SMG e46 M3 and yes, when i first started driving, it was clunky but i just need to learn how to drive....sound like you do too.
plmichal32: Oh dear. I just died a little inside...
arcticflow328: All U.S. E46 M3's were 3.2L. And you would be surprised to find that the canvas top itself on the convertible models only weighs about 50lbs...so not a HUGE amount of "trunnk weight" as you describe, but yes, weight still. You are correct, the X6 is also built in SC, I missed that one :) Never heard of BMW factory in India. Land Rover, yes, but not BMW.
