Gen. Bruce Carlson Video

Gen. Bruce Carlson, Commander, Air Force Materiel Command. The AFMC Four-Star makes it clear that something needs to be done to cut back on contractor protests of major procurements. He says $800 million has already been lost as a result of the CSAR-X protest. He was speaking just weeks before the Air Force is expects to announce the winner of the KC-X tanker program. Carlson was speaking at AVIATION WEEK's Defense Technology & Requirements Conference.

demorra: Dear General Carlson, I wish you understood the political and economic costs of outsourcing American military capabilities to foreign suppliers. When you buy overseas aprroximately four jobs are lost in addition to the base production jobs. We at the mercy of suppliers who do not agree with our policies. Need I remind of the Swiss supplier of optics whose govenment refused to allow them to ship product to the United States when the Swiss government disagreed with US policies in Iraq.
