ANGEL OF THE CANAL Video

During the digging of the Ohio and Erie Canal many workers fell ill from malaria, cholera, typhus and numerous illnesses that frequented their workcamps. Many more have died from these illnesses. Doctors and medicine were scarce in this new frontier and many remedies did not work as was expected. One couragious woman from Brecksville only known as Mrs. Johnson rose to help these poor mostly immigrant Irish and German wrokers back to health. And to provide comfort to those that died. This then is dedicated to this selfless and remarkable woman, The Angel of the Canal.
