UP, CP derailment in Northbrook at Shermer bridge cut off Video

tropicalchaser: Yup. They are already running freight to A-5. I imagine it will be 1 or 2 days.

tropicalchaser: No. I was there about 20 minutes after it happened.

trainmaster55: Is this near Chicago? Wow that's really a mess, wonder who screwed this one up, I have a tendency to think it was UP! Alex

tropicalchaser: Yes, northern suburbs. It appears the westbound CP was waiting on the cutoff for a green light when the UP traveling east, lost connection and then the cars tipped over and took out 4 cars of the CP and about 13 UP cars.

tropicalchaser: The southbound train was a UP. The northbound train was a CP which was taking the cutoff to go westbound as the CP units were lock down on the cutoff near Techny road after the derailment.
