collieh1: ok, i was lazy. give me a break i'm not going to change your mind anyway. one point you keep talking about is solar panels are cheaper and will save money. well then, lets do the calculation. energy usage in the US is around 30E15 Watts a year. per square meter the sun at the brightest time of day in the summer deliver 200 watts. the efficiency is around 20%. so, under best conditions this will yield around 40 watts per square meter. do you agree?
collieh1: in order to replace only 3 percent of the total energy usage, the total cost comes out to around 10 times the national debt, or around 130 trillion dollars, if you use a solar panel at around 50 dollars per square meter. lets look at land usage. well. 10^14 (watts being replaced) divided by 40(watts per square meter) gets a whoppin 25000000000000 meters. thats about twice the land area of the united states.
