Gay Marriage: Sen. Boxer of California says gay marriage hasnt hurt HER marriage. Video
[Originally posted on PoliticsTV in summer 2006] The U.S. House is going to vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment yet again today. Gay marriage (and GOP homphobia) was a big theme at the Yearly Kos blogger convention, but Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) put it best in her speech:
"I've been married for a very long time, and I can tell you, that the fact that two people of the same gender care about each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together, that doesn't threaten my marriage one bit and if anyone says that their marriage is threatened from that then there is something wrong with their marriage. It's not the problem of the other people who want to live together."
starryeyedbeautypie: but just because a group of people are disgusted and ashamed does not make something right or wrong.
