He's trying to sarcastically point out that he's not really the head of the GOP and that Doug Hoffman had nothing to do with him. Of course Hoffman *did* have something to do with Rush and Palin and Beck and the like, and I think that scared away a lot of moderate voters up here.

fantagor: Even MSNBC focused on the NJ and VA races. The NY-23 race was a coverage afterthought, even though it was one of two races with actual balance of power impact at the federal level. The CA-10 race got even less coverage, basically nil, never mind that the Democrats picked up two more votes for healthcare in the House, or that out of 11 races, the GOP won only TWO.

The conservative "independent" had no record of service in the district. The Rep knew the Dem and knew he has the best interests of the district in mind with his positions and efforts.
