Phil X Jams - Little Wing Video

Phil X jams Little Wing, by Jimi Hendrix, in a small bar in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

Although the venue only had a small riser for a stage, a low ceiling, two light stands and a tiny sound system, the local audience was treated to an amazing night of rock on August 29th 2009. The Musicians in the jam night included; Guitarist (Phil X), Bassist (Kevin Gingrich) and Drummer (Paul Hoffman).

Phil X spent a few years kicking around the club scene in Toronto, Canada. It wasn't long before he started developing a reputation as a guitarist with some serious power behind his sound. One day, after a twist of fate, he was asked to play for Tommy Lee. The next day he was in the studio and began recording guitars for MCA's Methods of Mayhem (Dec.'99). Since his reputation as being a raw, inventive and energetic guitarist got around, Phil X has recorded with Daughtry, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Rob Zombie, Gavin Degraw, Alice Cooper, Andrew W.K. and many more.

kaji7800: thanks phil!! if ill go to USA , I'll listen to your real sound
mrnugget: Great mix. Guitar loud and clear, drums precise and banging, bass smooth - I love it. This is how music should sound, it's a pleasure to listen to. Really good work, guys! And the image is great too. Amazing what you do in a small venue with a limited budget (i guess). Some big stars should have a look at this, because this is how it's done, guys. Compliments to you, phil!
urbandecayable: I've been watching your energetic frettedamericana jams for quite a while now, so I was really looking forward to see the real deal, and I must say I haven't seen such a passionate inspiring playing since Jeff Buckley.
sfeely7: One of the best covers of this song I've seen. Nice work.
Roniel81: Fuck O_o This is by far the best cover with the most energetic approach towards classic Jimi's songs! =))
chuckbuntz: what guitar is that?
progyrocky: Phil's the only guitar player that was so good , I wanted to quit playing back in 1990 in Toronto. He played a solo for 'Purple Rain" that gave me goose bumps....the guy is incredible !!
philx1111: it's a Freiheit Strat. made by Brad Freiheit in Kitchener, Canada. He made the Les Paul i used that night too and damn... he makes some kick ass guitars.
KGuitarH: You guys really feel the music and that's what makes it so fuckin awesome! You are amazingly talented!
chuckbuntz: cool phil where can i get myself 1 of those guitars?
JKryanX: phil do you know who monte montgomery is???
vanbobiks: I think I'm in some serious love with Mr. X ! :D Man, you ARE awesome !
Torfinnmadssen: Amazing cover, beautiful music :)
ZWILD1: Damn, now I have to recalibrate my expectation of how this song deserves to be performed, cuz Jimi's take is now only second-best (my opinion, no flame war PUHLEEZ). I never imagined this as a soul number, but YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
lemi413: Jimy, SRV and Phil X ...
Heylo193: Amazing... what bar is this... I live in Kitchener and im curiuos/
Gretsch99: @Heylo193 Lancaster Tavern.
Alexobi25: really good, Phil - it's incredible that you can play with so much soul, it sounds fantastic, 10-10 for filming
IronChefPeter: Little too much distortion used for my tastes, but still awesome!
AliceinChains8593: Phil looks so much like Jack Black, it's ridiculous. 4:44
AliceinChains8593: What the fuck? It's not a bad thing... I just pointed out that he looks like Jack Black...
Bk1TripleR: This is just insane. I love every little part of this! Cudos to the cameraman(men) to. Phil is great as usual but i'm really loving the drums to and I like what the bass-player does in at the end. Timeless song, great tribute to Jimi
kamaboko1: anyone know the make of his guitar?
spitfire1068: its and LTD viper
philx1111: no. it's a freiheit strat style guitar
