Recounts planned in Edina, Richfield Video

Recounts are all the rage this fall.

Count the Edina Board of Education race among the recounts on tap post-election.

A hand recount is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in the council chambers of Edina City Hall, 4801 W. 50th St.

Only 15 votes separated candidates Lonnie Skrentner and Jeff Johnson.

Skrentner received 1,581 votes to take the fourth open spot on the school board, while incumbent Johnson received 1,566 votes. Since the difference is less than one-half of 1 percent of the total votes counted, Johnson could request a recount at the districts expense, which he did at the Nov. 9 school board meeting.

The recount official will be Deb Mangen, Edina City Clerk.

The recount is open to the public.

Theres a recount taking place in Richfield, too. The school board election finished with a three-vote margin between third and fourth place, with three open seats up for election this fall. The Richfield School Board will finalize its plans for a recount at 6 p.m. tonight.
