San Jose Police Department 10/27/09 Brutality Charge "Civilian Review Board" is now necessary Video
I don't want to hear "he reached for his waste band" or "he had something silver in his hand" or "He reached under the seat" (and then there is no weapon) or "Are you going to believe me or your lying eyes and ears" or "You had to be there to see how the suspect was at fault for all ten of us and our behavior" or "We risk our lives for you everyday" . 95% of your Patrol Time is spent doing boring things and 5% Hot Calls unless you make everything a life and death struggle. My answer is "If you can't do it right, I don't want you to risk anything, just get a job you can handle" You are not all heroes , only the one's who actually act heroically" I and many like me served on Police Departments during one of the most dangerous times in History. The Civil Rights Movements, The Viet Nam War Protest Years and the rampant Drug Years. Every arrest wasn't a 148 and we never had to beat people up when we out numbered them 4 to 1. I went in on many armed hostage situations, 211's , armed 415's and PCP dopers and still not 1 Internal Affairs claim. We didn't have Mace, Tazers, Bullet Proof vests or a SWAT unit wearing so much equipment they would drown crossing a puddle. We didn't have two man cars or the whole department rushing in on hot calls. I never had to shoot anyone because I didn't want to, even when I would have been justified. I did see those who shot people decompensate mentally after they killed someone and it was sad. If you can't do the job every day without hurting people, somethings wrong. Nothing has changed except the quality of those doing the job now. You got tazers because you kept shooting people, now you use the tazer like you use to use mace when it was first available, as a first step instead of a last step. Soon people will no longer except the Dustem -Popem- Send em mentality and politicians will come in on a massive reform program and you will start getting indicted and punished. It is better that you leave now before your current conduct is viewed entirely different overnight then how Mrs. John Carr (the district attorney ) views it now. I know your not listening, but thats OK because unless you change youll have small Command Center voice actuated duplex transmission devices on you for each call and two 180 degree wireless transmission cameras in your cars coupled with GPS on your cars as well as on your persons. Then you will have to be emotionally stable, well educated, well trained and interested in just being a Peace Officer. No pay job wrangling, no second business on the side. The technology is already here. The only reason why you are protected now from bad conduct is not necessarily because your innocent of charges but because the City cant afford the lawsuits. They have always reviewed the reports and doctored them. Before you ask the DUMB question "Who are you and what business is it of yours old timer" Think about it, I'm am 6' tall, 180 lbs. run 3 miles a day and have a full body work out three days a week. I have a BA, Masters and a J.D. degree , MCSE Degree (MICROSOFT SYSTEM ENGINEER) and just completed the P.O.S.T. Police Academy 6 week update training course. I am 61 years old and could jump back into a Patrol Car tomorrow. So spare me the question. I don't need the job because I'm secure about who I am and don't need it.

It appears that with numerous shootings, tazings and an extensive list of other offenses over the last few years which have gone deliberately unexplained factually and buried in months of Secret Grand Juries and refusals to release reports that it is apparent that we need a powerful Independent "Civilian Review Board:" with the power to discipline and to refer for criminal prosecution. It should be comprised of Citizens, Attorneys, Law Enforcement, Fire Department Personnel and business persons with a Superior Court Judge Presiding.

javaleer: fuck the police some1 should do something about these motherfuckers... they do shit like this every day and get away with it. they called like 20 cops for 1 guy on alma and kick his ass then they tazed him and that paysa guy was hella crying. i felt hella bad 4dat foo.
2dazed: I witnessed 1 guy beat the crap out of 4 cops no BS!!!!!!!! Happend on the corner of Hilldsale ave and Jarvis ave back in 98' and he got away too. .
NateJaeger2: Everyone except insane people know when they have done something wrong and recognize the authority of police. Most people realize they have to cooperate and they do. A cop can pick a fight with anyone by being rude and threatening. The average person at some point fights back but that's a CRIME.
2dazed: They do pick fights with people by their aggressive tone and they use they act like that in parts of SSSJ too not just essj
NateJaeger2: If you start off as a Professional being Respectful and Courteous you can always "Firm Up" and be "Authoratative" If you start out "really nasty" there is no place to go and people don't need to be bullied and they won't take it. They shouldn't have too.
NateJaeger2: As a Police Officer if I approached you and asked you if you would help me with something and you did and I thanked you would you feel comfortable seeing me again in the future. If I asked you to tell me your side of the story and respected your position would you deal with me with respect? If I told you I had to arrest you but would help you get OR'd and gave you a smoke would you cooperate with me? Yes.
2dazed: Agreed!
zk92000: Kenneth Oliver of Miami Dade was tasered to death for not following instructions. He has pins in his shoulder so he couldnt put his hands behind his back (police said he wouldn't comply with putting his hands behind him = tasing him 5x!!!! Its total Bs. Same situation here, the guy couldnt even comply because there wasnt room in the hallway. The cops are completely out of control
NateJaeger2: The taser is used improperly because Police Officers resent having the restriction of carrying it. They feel they have lost the power symbol of the gun. Over using it means it will be taken away and their feeling of authority will return , You can ignore one persons demand but not that of 10,000.
zk92000: Thats amazing. So in other words, cops would rather not have to use the taser? Damn, so in the mean time the general public needs to suffer & some even die? Im just sick & tired of seeing old grandmoms get tasered, & cases like this one over & over & over. Its funny u said they do it delberatly, cause i was thinking a similar thing, that overuse would cause tasers to be banned faster. SO KEEP USING THEM. But its almost a form of self sacrafice because look at all the cops that got fired?
