North behind South in broadband penetration Video

A broadband divide has been revealed between the North and the South.

Research firm Point Topic has released results that 68 cities, towns and districts have high broadband penetration. But only three of these are above the line from the Wash to the Bristol Channel.

And in the south, there are only six low broadband penetration spots out of 60 nationwide.

A Point Topic spokesperson says the findings support the view of Britain as divided between the "world metropolis of London" and a "provincial archipelago" of the North.

But it's not all bad news. Nearly three quarters of the country has medium broadband penetration, which should go some way to meeting the government's Digital Britain challenges.
