How To Unlock Cores on ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO Video

N00b friendly tutorial. Unlocking the 4th core on the Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition (default is 3 cores).

ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO makes it so easy. The procedure is as follows in the BIOS:

1) set Advanced Clock Calibration to Auto
2) set Unleashing Mode to Enable
3) thats it!

*REMEMBER* Not all processors will unlock properly. Some unlock great, some don't. But it doesn't hurt to try. Good luck!

Stress testing your CPU after you've unlocked with Prime95(if you can run it for a day straight without errors then you've got yourself a stable one), download it here:

nobodypersonsomeone: woot! first comment!
NeoOne110: im getting this board soon it looks great.seems nice to have an option to unlock cores.
00008x: That is a great video, I have the same mainbord. I need help, how can I overclock RAM to 1800MHZ? my memory wor´ks only on 1333mhz. Please, help me. I have CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE MB: the same RAM : kingston 1800MHz
kmilo9500: @00008x u cant because this board only supports 1600 overclocked memory at max
kmilo9500: When you do this u are not getting 4 real cores u are getting 3 real cores and 1 simulated core. Thats the technology that intel i7 use in their procesors to say that they are 8 core processors.
surferstapleton: This is AMD. You are unlocking a real core. In cpuid, it comes up as 4 cores, 4 threads.
surferstapleton: nope, mine says 1800mhz on the box.
madzane94: lol ediot, this is not intel... and this is not hyperthreading.... =.= say shyt like that when u have no knowledge of amd cpu's -_-.. it is 4 *real cores * that has 1 turned off, all he did was turn it back on lol.
incognitostatus: you're wrong man haha
kmilo9500: Man im AMD fan, and im saying that he unlock a virtual core because I know how is the estructure of a AMD Phenom ii x3 720 and it only have 3 physical cores , so the 4th unlocked core is a virtual core. And please read! in the video says that is a phenom ii X3 no X4.
Elmqviisten: Great vid man! I'm getting the AMD Phenom2 X2 550 with the same motherboard as you, I hope I will be able to unlock the two other cores :D Did you have to update your BIOS before you did this? And what do you think about the motherboard? :) Does it have great overclocking-capabilities? Good sound? Thx man, 5/5
speghead14: one of the first things I did after putting win7 was update bios.. the board makes OC'ing easy, but its up to your cpu and heatsink as to how well it will handle it... the onboard video does however OC great no problem. glad the video helped you. the sound is ok but to be honest most of the time i have been using audio interface + studio monitors the mobo is awesome , but my 720 black edition is what is pooping out on me lately so I dunno if I'd recommend that cpu
darkstar2721: your thinking of hyper threading which amd does not have. The core in this video was turned off in the factory
darkstar2721: I read 1800 on newegg. But w/e =P
madzane94: lol dude, this is not intel ht... no such thing as virtual core for amd loolll... they just turn off the 4th core for x3 so they doe hav to make a different architercture...lol research b4 u comment..
madzane94: dude stfu...plz intel and amd is 2 diff companys, plz do ur research b4 spammin shyt all over the place lol
madzane94: ok since u kno so much... go into cpuz on ur i7 or what not.. and tell me where u see 8 cores....it's 8 threads !!!!... threads!!!!... on the amd cpu u do not unlock a thread *virtual core* u unlock a fuqin core... core = physical hardware.. thread = virtual... get it yet.... do ur self a favour... go to google..go to images and type in i7 cpu-z and tell me if u see 8 cores.... so stop givin me thumbz down when i'm right..dumb fuqz
unrollers: hei! I have the same mainboard and the same processor but socket am3. I ran in to a problam, i did step 1 and 2 but there did not appear the option "active cpu cores" so i saved and quit. i use everest to view my pc stats and it shoved that there are 4 cores but only 3 active but in taskmanager all 4 are active so did i unluck the cores or not? So if you or emibody can help tell me. :)
samljer: If the option wasnt there then of course you didnt unlock it. cmon man use your head.
Ahmed06903: hello , I want to buy a mother board but i dont know which is better ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO or ASUS M4A770TD PRO please help thanx
0121ryanh117: @Ahmed06903 Take a look at the specifications. I personally cannot find any info (at all) on the ASUS M4A770TD PRO. Seems like its not even for sale when I googled it. Ive ordered the M4A785TD-V EVO and it fits my purpose, it uses the AM3 socket, supports up to 16GB of DDR3 memory and has lots of other features.
Ahmed06903: @0121ryanh117 thank you ive ordered M4A785TD-V EVO with hd4890
D4H4X0R: I bought this mainboard, hd 5770 and phenom II be 550 dual core and i will try to unlock it to quad core, hope it works. Thanks from great tutorial :D
Urzu3: someone told me the PRO was larger(wider) MOBO than EVO.. but the EVO still a great one.. =) just got it 3 months ago
Urzu3: looks like we r same =D mine is Phenom II X3 710... ATI HD 5770 just unlocked it few hours ago and its work..~ =D my CPU-Z detected it as AMD Phenom II X4 10 Processor...
