aznluck: Just because you say you're a lawyer online doesn't make you so. Am I reading this right? You have the time to do all this while being a lawyer? I doubt it. I don't know who you tries to trick but it ain't working on me. Since when does being a lawyer makes you an expert in economic and healthcare? If medicare/medicaid can't compete with the government run healthcare then they will have to cut cost or die out...public option push them to do that. It seems like you don't know anything at all.

How can you be all of these and still have time to read 1,990 pages of the healthcare bill and outline the meaning of what it says? WOW you're must be very smart or a liar...hmmm
Smartassawhip: LOL Do you not have any common sense? It works the same way other insurance companies do. The more people in your group the lower the cost. Not only that but since they are not out to make a profit there is a very low overhead in comparrison so that shaves off quite a few dollars in itself. Right now the ins. Companies decide and not the doctors.
Smartassawhip: Our country has been safe. Shit happens and soldiers do snap. We should take better care of them. I think that is what this president is trying to do for them. What makes you think that our country is not capable of doing something that all other developed countries have managed to do? They spend less and have better health care than we do.
Marleyites: It doesn't matter to me whether you believe I'm a lawyer or not. I'm licensed in 2 states & federal court. I have time b/c I'm disabled & can't work at a regular job. I know about economics & health care because I studied business in college, I have a bachelor's in bus. management and an MBA, and a bachelor's degree in agronomy. I don't practice law anymore; I'm a ghostwriter for websites & businesses. I'm paid to read & outline the bills that come to the house floor.
Marleyites: People from all over the world come here for health care. I can't understand you people all wanting handouts from the gov, willing to trade liberty & freedom for the promise of something that other people will pay for, until nobody is left in business to pay for you people. Forcing people to buy insurance? What kind of BS is that? And nobody has answered my question as to why you think the insurance will be affordable - whatever that means. Premiums will be controlled by insurance co's.
Smartassawhip: I did answer your question. It all boils down to competition and very low overhead. Many people leave this country and go to other countires for less expensive health care as well. I believe that is all the other developed countries can do this then we can as well. Why do you think our country is to stupid to be able to do what they have done?
Marleyites: @smartass: there is no "competition" when the gov is involved; business that has to make a profit to stay in biz can't "compete" with the gov. This idea of competition is a fabrication put out by those who know the people will buy it. I don't think we're too stupid to do what others have done. Freedom, liberty & Constitution were an experiment. We were leaders, not followers. Now, you want us to follow, deem failure to freedom, fall in line, goosestep in lockstep w/ the rest. Sad, very sad.
Smartassawhip: We are not leaders when it comes to health care in fact we a a joke. I don't have sympathy for the insurance companies. They make more than enough money to take things down a few notches and still make plenty of profit. What if I had a ton of money and wanted to open an insurance company and my prices were much lower than the other insurance companies? Would you have a problem with that? What if I covered the same things and people decided they liked me more? This is the same thing.
Marleyites: @smartass: I'm not calling for sympathy for any business - insurance or otherwise. The market should (and would) set the prices of goods & services if left alone w/ little or minimal regulation (I'm not saying NO regs). Anytime the gov gets involved, the market gets skewed. The richest business investing is not comparable to gov competition - for one reason b/c to get the $, the gov has to borrow it, which further distorts market. The gov isn't a "rich" investor, as in your example.
Marleyites: @smartass: you're right, we're not leaders in health care, but we could be. We have everything it takes except support from legislators, policy-makers, media & their followers - people who want gov control over every facet of our lives and those that follow along with that program. Socialism, communism, fascism - they're great systems for those at the top. These top-dogs convince the bottom people like me & you, that they're best to rule & decide. Their education system helped convince people.

Marleyites: @ aznluck: yes, people from Canada & England come here to get operations that wouldn't get b/c of rationing or waiting lists in those countries, just like we'll have if this bill becomes law. I don't know what "healthcare companies" you believe I'm defending - but I defend anyone's right to be in business if it doesn't cause harm to others. I prefer US companies and I haven't bought anything Made in China for 30 years. And I help build US business by helping entrepreneurs w/ start-up.
Marleyites: @ aznluck: small business provides 80% of the US jobs. Every bill that's been passed since Osamabama & many during Bush, will bring the death of small business. Big companies outsource. Gov passes legislation that strangles small biz & small farmers, promoting welfare state for the middle class. Small biz can't compete w/ big biz when regulations & taxes increase costs beyond the breaking point. There is no "you guys" to bring back small biz; it's up to everyone to support small biz. EVERYONE.
