Q2 - Betty Chu & Chris Agrella on Global Warming & Pollutions Video
Experts estimate that by 2030 emissions per capita will decline by 14 percent in the U.S. due to a less-carbon intensive economy.
1. How do you propose to cut emissions for a cleaner future in 10-20 years?
2. How do propose working with California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32) which requires that by 2020 the state will cut
greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels, or by 20%? At the same time, how would you address the global warming bill now before Congress which proposes to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 17% below 2005 levels by 2020?
President Obama has said that the global warming bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on June 25 will create jobs. Others including experts say the bill will shut down energy and utility facilities, cut millions of jobs, and raise energy prices.
3. How do you think the global warming bill before the Senate will affect jobs?
4. In what respects will the bill affect jobs in the San Gabriel Valley?
5. In your opinion, who is responsible for curbing greenhouse gas emissions? Is it government, businesses, or individuals?
Transportation accounts for 38% of greenhouse gas, 60% of which is emitted from passenger cars and trucks. The San Gabriel Valley, your district, is a major artery for traffic and trucking across Southern California.
6. How do you plan to address pollution from traffic through the San Gabriel Valley?
