Say This Sooner \\ 02. Video

chapter two.

I woke up to my cellphone vibrating beside my arm,
as I balled my hands into fists and rubbed my eyes.

I looked down at the flashing screen that read, 'one
new message'. Still squinting from the light pouring
into the window, I tried my best to make out words.

"A bunch of us are going to the pool later to hang
out. So go get ready, 'cause you're coming with us."

I laughed, sitting up and running my fingers through
my hair to smooth it out a little bit. My fingers typed a
quick reply, as I jumped out of bed.

I threw everything I needed into a bag that had been
sitting in my closet and ran out the door, eventually
meeting up with two of my best friends beside the
busy street.

"Hey Sel," Brittany beamed.

She linked arms with me, as I turned to Emily and
did the same thing. We all laughed as we walked
away in sync with each other's steps.

We eventually ran inside the pool area, throwing
our stuff on one of the tables and spreading our
towels out on the freshly mowed grass.

Minutes later, we found ourselves sitting on the
metal bench, arms crossed over our stomachs.

We watched people disappear under the ripples of
water they created after jumping off the side,& then
reappear a couple seconds later.

Out of nowhere, I felt a pair of arms wrap around me
and lift me off a bench, as I stared down at the water directly beneath me now.

"Nick!" I screamed.

He chuckled, loosening his grip. I tightened my grip
around his neck, screaming once again.

"Don't you dare let go," I demanded.

"See ya," He smiled as he released me.

I felt the cold water hit all areas of my skin, and the
bubbles slide up from underneath me as the group
of them fought their way back to the top.

I kicked my way to the top of the water, my hair now
sticking to each side of my face. My eyes locked to
his, as he fought to catch his breath from laughing.

I pushed myself up onto the cement again, drops of
water falling off of me and creating a puddle directly
under my bare feet.

I narrowed my eyes for a second, before smirking.
He caught on, starting to back away slowly as his
lips curled into a smile, which quickly turned into
a chuckle.

I grabbed a hold of his wrist, running towards the
water once again, forcing both of us to go under.

I opened my eyes, watching as the bubbles floated
away like tiny balloons. I held my breath, a familiar
face coming into view as the scene cleared.

Without warning, we both laughed. The air from our
lungs turned into tiny bubbles as we tried to kick our
way back to the top.

As my head entered reality again, I noticed Nick
push himself out of the water, running out of my
view almost instantly.

I slowly moved my arms until I made it to the side
of the wall. I used my elbows to push myself up a
little, my eyes cautiously peeking over the edge.

I used the back of my hand to wipe off droplets of
water still rolling down my cheeks. I felt my chest
jump slightly, a sniffle making itself noticed.

It quickly clicked in my mind that I wasn't wiping
away stray drops of water from the pool...

I was crying.
