Love Bites—Chapter 7

People stared as we walked into the building, side by side. I looked over at Joe but he didnt seem to care what others thought. I liked that. I took in the peering eyes and eventually shrugged it off.

Joe: See you at lunch. (I nodded and he walked off)

I found Josh standing at my locker, great.

Josh: So, how was your date?
Demi: Other than him trying to rape me, it was—
Josh: Wait, what? (He jumped up alerted)
Demi: Yeah, so Im never going on a blind date ever again.
Josh: (He hugged me tightly) Im so fucking sorry! He didnt hurt you did he?
Demi: No. Thankfully Joe showed up and punched him in the face. (I smiled)
Josh: (Pulling away) Oh . . . Joe Jonas?
Demi: What other Joe do you know of? (I laughed)
Josh: (He smiled slowly) He punched him in the face?
Demi: Yeah! It was awesome. (Josh isnt all that bad after all . . .)

My classes are so boring in the morning. I made my way into the lunchroom. I spotted Josh and waved him over to the lunch line. He came over swiftly. I was beginning to think this kid was finally normal.

Demi: You wanna sit with me and the Jonas family at lunch?
Josh: (He looked over to their table) Maybe that wouldnt be such a great idea.
Demi: Why not? Youre my friend, they wouldnt mind.

I pulled him over to the table and I sat him next to me. Miley glared a little more than usual today. Joe sat across from me and looked back and forth between me and Josh.

Demi: I hope you guys dont mind that Josh is sitting with us today.
Miley: A little too late to mind, dont you think? (She looked over to Joe)
Nick: Miley, dont be a bitch.
Selena: Nick, please . . .
Miley: Yeah Nick, listen to Selena. (She smiled)
Selena: You too Miley. (She glanced up)
Kevin: (He smiled at Josh) Sorry, were dysfunctional.
Joe: Only some of us, -cough- Miley -cough- . . . (He laughed)
Demi: You guys are hilarious. (I laughed along and received another death stare from Miley)
Josh: (He just sat and smiled, probably really uncomfortable)
Joe: So Demi, Ill meet you at my car after school.
Selena: Oh, can I ride with you two?
Joe: Why cant Nick take you home?
Nick: Im going out of town after school and she has decided not to come with me. (He stared at her then smiled and kissed her softly) But I still love her. (They made me so happy. Miley and Kevin was more lust than anything. I saw no love between them. But with Selena and Nick, thats all it was about: Love. It made me smile.)
Joe: Sure, you can ride home with us.
Kevin: Get a room you two! (He smiled and threw a napkin that failed to hit them)

I dont believe Josh said a single word. I saw Selena stare intently at him a couple of times. Did she see something I didnt in him?
The last class of the day, a new pattern formed. I always seem to sit next to Joe. For me, that was more than perfectly fine. He turned to me.

Joe: Whats your favorite color? (Is he serious?)
Demi: Red and black.
Joe: Why? (I laughed)
Demi: Well, reds not too girly and not too masculine. (I smiled)
Joe: Why black though?
Demi: Well, I dont know . . .
Joe: Interesting.
Demi: You are so random at times.
Joe: I just want to get to know you. (His lips closed tightly around the last word and I couldve sworn that I didnt breathe for a minute or two. I kept my eyes on his, probably trying to find exactly who he was.) My favorite color is blue.
Demi: Why? (I smiled when mocking his words)
Joe: Cause Im awesome. (He turned back to the board and smiled)

I wanted to kiss him so badly. Right in front of everyone in this damn classroom. I wouldnt care whod see it. I really wouldnt. His beauty couldnt be explained in a single sentence, let alone an entire novel or chapter. I could spend forever explaining his features, from his perfectly shaped arms, his entirely flawlessly measured perfection, and his ability to keep me hanging on his every last word. I not only wanted to kiss him but so much more. I know, Im thinking very wrongly but I cant help the way he makes me feel.

The bell rings and Im the only one who doesnt instantly stand up. I wake up from my weird little thoughts and stare at Joe, whos just standing there and looking down at me. I stand up.

Demi: Ill meet you at your car.
