A thug has been jailed for at least 18 years for murdering an Indian naval officer in a race hate attack.
At the High Court in Glasgow on Tuesday, Christopher Miller was found guilty of the racially aggravated murder of Kunal Mohanty.
The jury - who returned a unanimous verdict - rejected his claims that he had killed him during a botched robbery bid.
The unprovoked attack took placed around 9.30pm as Mr Mohanty walked with three Indian Merchant Naval officer friends to get something to eat.
30-year-old Mr Mohanty was in Glasgow to sit his captain's exams at the Nautical College. But he was slashed in the throat as he walked along Bedford Lane, Glasgow on March 27 this year.
The horrific injury - described as one of the worst he had ever seen by a casualty consultant with 29 years experience - severed Mr Mohanty's carotid artery and jugular vein and cut through muscle and into his spine.
The wound was described by prosecutor Dorothy Bain QC as "an atrocity delivered without mercy, a death blow" and "an unprovoked attack on a blameless, defenceless and wholly decent man because Christopher Miller didn't like the colour of his skin".
As Mr Mohanty lay dying in the street with blood gushing from his neck, Miller and his friend John McGrory, 20, were running through a car park at the procurator fiscal's office celebrating.
Mr McGrory was so close to Miller when he killed Mr Mohanty that he got the dead man's blood on his trainers. Both men are seen cuddling, punching their arms in the air and at one point skin-head Miller is seen putting his jumper over his head in a football-style celebration. The whole incident was captured on security cameras at the procurator fiscal's office.
Meanwhile 50 yards away Mr Mohanty's friend Aalam Peshimam, 31, and an off-duty policeman battled to stem the flow of blood from Mr Mohanty's horrific injury.
Mr Mohanty was rushed to Glasgow's Victoria Infirmary but died around an hour later despite a massive effort by the casualty team there to save him.
That night, Miller was again captured on CCTV throwing sauce at staff at Asian takeaway Sizzlers and shouting racial abuse at them. Miller, who had spent the night drinking Buckfast before the attack, later told a friend he called Mr Mohanty a black bastard and when he didn't get any reaction he slashed him.
Mr Miller's brother Jamie Miller, 17, from Govanhill, Glasgow, gave evidence during the trial. Jamie Miller, said that around 11pm on March 27 - an hour and a half after the killing - his brother told him: "We've done a c***."
He asked his brother: "Who?" and Christopher Miller replied: "It was a Paki. I was fighting with him."

PaulMcCoch: Aye I have been in Barlinnie though not as an inmate. Every prisoner can buy themselves a Television set. They are not provided for them. And they can also pay for television channels such as Sky out of their wages. But regards Barlinnie. It is probably the worst prison in Europe never mind Britain or Scotland. It is no 'holiday camp'.
