6 youth film collectives and 6 films battled it out to take out the film awards of Judges Best Film and the Peoples Choice Awards.
The emerging film makers screened and delivered their pitch to the judges of award-winning and experienced filmmakers such as John Winter (NSW FTO executive development, producer of Rabbit Proof Fence), Jeff Purser (Producer of Cedar Boys) and Genevieve Clay (actor/ film maker / winner of 2009 Tropfest Short Film Festival).
Moses Kutessa, 19, a recent refugee from Uganda who now is living in Mt Druitt delivered a heartfelt pitch for his first time personal short film Real or Imagined taking out both the Peoples Choice Awards and Judges Best Film. Pop Series has given Moses the opportunity to enter the fields of film making and to tell his experience of moments of feeling indifference and times where he felt the unease of being the other.
When asked about his experience on Pop Series, Moses replied , "Best experience ever! I never thought something like this existed!"
Pop Series was a Western Sydneys film idol was developed for culturally diverse young people from Western Sydney and to promote the emerging screen culture in the area. 19 young persons were trained by industry film makers Craig Anderson (TV Series Double the Fist co-director/writer) and Amin Palangi (director/ writer) over a course of 12 weeks, in aspects of film that can be pitched to TV.

ICE RECEIVES CORE FUNDING FROM THE NSW GOVERNMENT THROUGH ARTS NSW & THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT THROUGH AUSTRALIA COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS, SWITCH MULTIMEDIA AND DIGITAL ARTS ACCESS CENTRE IS MANAGED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PARRAMATTA CITY COUNCIL.
