"No Such Thing" by John Mayer (karaoke by me) Video
Here is my attempt at singing John Mayer's "No Such Thing". Not perfect, certainly, but I hope you enjoy.
Any advice/constructive criticism would be much appreciated.
Yes, I am a girl. I am a female tenor in my high school's choir. My vocal range is approximately from A2 (over an octave below middle C) to G4 (a bit less than an octave above middle C). My head voice (like falsetto) extends up to C6.
Rattlehead757: Here's a little constructive advice. I think your voice needs a little more "ring". Try this : "place" your voice little more forward by basically visualizing in your mind the sound projecting toward your cheeks and forehead, the resonators. And it also sounds like you may be singing with a lowered larynx. Placing the sound forward will help raise it up a bit. If you have any other singing questions, feel free to PM me. I'm a female tenor/contralto too, but I sing metal and blues.
WyldFire777: So by that you mean my tone is too "dark" (and should be "brighter"), correct? You're referring to tone?
sccrnmbrthree: good job u can definatly hold a tune but i agree u need to brighten ur voice but good job keep singing=]
WyldFire777: Ha, interesting. I've noticed that too, that I've always had a darker tone, often a bit darker than I realize. In fact, it was what prevented me from joining an auditioned jazz choir last year. I made it in this year, quite possibly by default, but in any case, I think I've been able to control my tone a bit better nowadays. But John Mayer doesn't really have a very bright tone anyways, don't you think? I'm just trying to imitate the artist. :P
sccrnmbrthree: idk i love john mayers voice!!=] haha i think he has a deep voice but not a dark one. yea i was in an audition choir but quit because sports are president to choir for me and my choir director told me that i'd be labeled quiter for life.....never sang again..
rosesofsunshine3: just watched this... great job! lol, sorry no constructive criticism since I miss the musically gifted line by quite a few yards (I just appreciate music when I hear it:) From the description, it sounds like you know what you're doing and you enjoy singing/making music... hope you keep it up!
WyldFire777: @rosesofsunshine3 Thanks for the comment. :) And thanks for watching.
