http://redclifffilm.com/ NOW on VOD and In Theatres 11/18. Legendary action-cinema master John Woo and international superstar Tony Leung reunite for the first time since the 1992 classic HARD BOILED in RED CLIFF, the epic historical drama based on a legendary 208 A.D. battle that heralded the end of the Han Dynasty. RED CLIFF opens as power hungry Prime Minister-turned-General Cao Cao (Zhang Fengyi) seeks permission from the Han dynasty Emperor to organize a southward-bound mission designed to crush the two troublesome warlords who stand in his way, Liu Bei (You Yong) and Sun Quan (Chang Chen). As the expedition gets underway, Cao Cao's troops rain destruction on Liu Bei's army, forcing him into retreat. Liu Bei's military strategist Zhuge Liang (Takeshi Kaneshiro) knows that the rebels' only hope for survival is to form an alliance with rival warlord Sun Quan, and reaches out to Sun Quan's trusted advisor, war hero Zhou Yu (Tony Leung). Vastly outnumbered by Cao Cao's brutal, fast-approaching army, the warlords band together to mount a heroic campaign unrivaled in history that changes the face of China forever. A massive hit in Asia and the most expensive Asian film production of all time, RED CLIFF is a breathtaking war epic that marks the triumphant return of John Woo.

ibitoshi: It's fitting because during the Han Dynasty China IS the premier world power. Historians generally agree that if the Romans faught the Hans they would have been easily defeated. The Han Chinese drove the Huns from their homeland, and they went to Europe and eventually help defeat the Roman Empire. That should tell you something about the Power Ranking at the time.
jen5562: I Watched it here in HD Free===> FreeMovieStreaming . org
hsuboi: But keep in mind that the supposed expulsion of the (Xiongnu) Huns, occurred centuries before the "Huns" appeared at Rome's borders. At that time, both Han and Roman empires have already begun to decline. As for pitting the two greatest world powers at the time, the outcome is not that simple.
ibitoshi: Just look at the size and power of Cao Cao's Army and see that decline doesn't mean lack of military prowess. Even with the victory at Red Cliff, we all know that Wu and Shu both lost China to the successor of Cao Cao's Wei eventually. Huns decimated Roman legions because the Romans never faced a real army made entirely of Calvary before - The Hans learned from the Huns and improved on it, thus gaining a tactical advantage the Romans never never gotten.
hsuboi: Thats a good perspective, but as I said: it's not a simple matter. There are many variables; however keep in mind that Han isn't a horse-oriented culture, but did recruit and learn cavalry methods from their nomadic subjects and neighbors. The agricultural Romans employed the exact same methods when dealing with horse cultures and supplementing their Legions. Your point works because indiv Roman commanders succeed against barbarians as at this time, ex Septimius Severus.
