Aloe Vera Video

We're growing ALOE VERA in our backyard. Which most of the year it loves our climate...but during the winter months...we tuck it under the porch...to protect it from the snow and freeze. It still gets the southern sun..and we eventually will hang a clear plastic sheet in front of the opening to create a mini greenhouse.

GROW YOUR OWN ALOE! We use it externally for cuts, burns, bites and slivers...and internally in our elixirs. POWERFUL PLANT! There are many varieties...so enjoy them all...but we're mostly growing ALOE BARBADENSIS and ALOE CHINENSIS

A few growing tips: Make a fast draining soil mix..like 50 percent sand or perlite and 50 percent garden soil. Also..don't over water..it's like's to almost dry out. I've noticed they also like to be shaded most of the day. For fertilizer....(learned this one from David Wolfe's Superfood's book)...use dead sea salt....mix some in water every couple months and water the plants..or dig a little hole next to the plant and pour a small amount of dead sea salt in the hole and cover. You can also use ocean grown, ocean water dilution. HAPPY GROWING!!

323desi: I just love your videos
ivankinsman: That's interesting about aloe vera and I will check out DW's book. I would also take a look at making apple cider vinegar. We have made it the first time this year and it is a fantastic cure for a lot of ailments , improves energy levels as well as helping you diet. Lots of info. on the web about it!
rawutah: ..thanks ivankinsman..I will check into apple cider vinegar...I've heard of it's value..but haven't used it much. With all these apple trees growing up rapidly..I'll hopfully be preparing my own apple cider vinegar very soon... Loving your garden over there...it's beautiful!!
rawutah: 323desi...thanks for checking them out!!! Happy Growing!!
SecretsOfLongevity: Amazing! Fillet an aloe not a salmon!
jayandallie5: Can you start another plant from a single aloe vera plant?
rawutah: Hi janandallie5...absolutely you can!! Most of the plants you see in this video, came from just a couple of mother plants. From 3 plants..we now have what you see above... You'll notice when growing aloe..that smaller aloe babies, or pups, start to appear at the base of the larger plant..you carefully dig the pup out...and transplant it to a new pot. That simple!! Have fun growing yours!
