yavan artha udapane
sarvatah samplutodake
tavan sarvesu vedesu
brahmanasya vijanatah

To the BRAHMANA who has known the self, all the VEDAS are of so much use, as is a reservoir of water in a place where there is flood everywhere

All purposes served by a small well can at once be served by a great reservoir of water. Similarly, all the purposes of the Vedas can be served to one who knows the purpose behind them.

Just as a reservoir is of little use to people when the country is flooded all around, so the scriptures are of little use to the illumined man or women, who sees the lord everywhere
