The Latest Thing Video

A new mobile out in stores across the country.
They sell like hot cakes, theyve all taken the bait.
The company is happy, its made a profit
From the self conscious people who have to have The Latest Thing.

So the next morning they show it off to not-so-wealthy friends.
Putting it in their pocket, then taking it out again seconds later.
They ask to see my mobile, and I know they only want to so they can
Compare my three year old phone to their twenty-four hour gadget.

Regardless, I take it out of my blazer pocket, and straight away they
Turn up their nose in disgust as if Im holding dog crap in my hand.
Cool! they say, but I know theyre lying. Doesnt bother me anyway.
A thing that makes a phone call isnt going to get my knickers in a twist.

You see, I dont need materialistic things to make me happy.
Ill grow up to be thankful for the things that I get, and those
Snobs I left behind will never be satisfied with The Latest Thing.
They are, and always will be, spoilt brats. I almost feel sorry for them

TNTJahv1er: you have a pc yourself, a pc itself is what you are talking about. A cell phone is basically like a minute pc, think about it.....they have evolved so much in 10 years.

fellowtuber123: Yes, but people my age tend to brag over cell phone's more. To me, they only seem to get a new cell phone, just so they can say they've got the latest thing. I'm going to keep MY cell phone until it goes kaput. People don't really brag or show off their computers though. They can't bring them to school, well, only if you had a laptop, but a teacher would probably catch them out. There seems to be a bigger hype about i-pods, i-phones, cell phones etc.

allgoraro: I have seen young people argue about the amount of songs on an i-pod and which was cooler due to having more songs--talk about ridiculous! Five stars.
