Console makes this generation have been regularly putting out hardware upgrades of their console; is this good or bad?

jwlm88: Hardware upgrades suck. They should make one console with all the features. Firmware updates are good (except psp). PSP updates are ment to deture piracy. But usually firmware updates add new features, or make the product more stable. And the 360 hardrives are the biggest scam ever. They are regular hardrive (which are cheap as hell), but because of the special case it costs an arm and a leg! They should have done the HD like the PS3. I could easily and cheaply swap out the HD.

gilligan07734: you really cant talk about price drops. that's just part of the business. i remember seeing a 35 inch widescreen tv for $10,000 yes that's ten thousand. now what are they $600? and not to mention the 1080p. also the only time i get annoyed by updates are when they are mandatory. i want a button that says 'do you want to update now?'

Elmanojohnson: I got to say I agree with a lot of points you guys made, I'm all for hardware upgrades that improve the system for performance or cost, but not the BS stuff like the pspgo where you can't use you're old games. and the software updates only show that the developers should have taken and extra month or so and work out the bugs.

bop777: HDMI on 360 is awesome! I love being able to connect my 360 to my computer screen. 1080p looks great.

CowlauncherX: The updates I hate the most are the ones that do nothing but security updates. Otherwise the stuff like NXE upgrades are most welcome.

wtrswoopes: I don't mind firmware updates as they extend the life of the console IMO. I prefer seeing these to buying a whole new console every 3 years. My beef is more with the accessories. The 120 HB is what $140 and you can get the whole Elite just double that?
