Grand Theft Auto IV Runs Terribly On Dual-Core Systems! Video

Here is a video showing how terribly GTA IV runs when you have a shitty little dual-core processor. The ATI Radeon HD 5850 should have absolutely no trouble playing this game, but when paired with an Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 overclocked to 3003 MHz & 4GB of DDR2 ram, it can't let itself run at full potential. However, I'm upgrading to an AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE very soon. I have already ordered the 4GB of Mushkin DDR3 ram & MSI 790FX-GD70 motherboard and now I am simply trying to save up for the processor. Anyway, enjoy this video.

syedjaafar: bottleneck?
Elmqviisten: I'm choosing between getting the AMD Phenom2 X2 550 with a hd5850 or a AMD Phenom2 X4 955/965 with a XFX HD4890. Which one do you think I should get?
deathlord619: Some dual cores dont suck.. GTA4 won't only play well on a quad core.. It will play fine on a E8400 Core 2 Duo or E8600
athlonz2007: E8400 OCed at 4 Ghz 4 gig of ram 1.1 Ghz HD4870 1600x1200, everything to the max but the texture to med run around 25 to 45 FPS
mrh112: @Elmqviisten get the 965 processor but save up for the 5850, DONT get a 4890 as dx11 is out now and a few months down the line it will become a large bottleneck with games like crysis 2 ect.., or you could get a 5770 or something like that, there cheaper than the 5850 with about the preformance of the 4870 but with dx11, whatever you choose dont get a dual core as they are very old hat now, lol in three months amd is relesing a six! core cpu
Elmqviisten: thx for the answer :) Well I'm going for a i5-system with a hd4890. I'll buy a 5850 or a 5870 in a half-year or something :)
mrh112: @Elmqviisten ok well good luck with your new system, i hope it works better than the one ive got now lol
PCgame4life: Honest GTA IV works pretty good on my intel duel core q6600 OC @3.2ghz.. I max it with 1920x1080 just turn your view distance and other bars to 0. Looks worse and things keep apearing in front of you but if you ain't got a quad core its tuff shit GTA IV is a crysis type demanding game.
VinnyLT9000: are you in dual crossfire or are you just using 1 card?
resdudeornardude: your CPU is outdated as shit. Get a new one
gothen1234: @athlonz2007 hi im getting an e8400 can you tell me what voltage your using and how you did it
gothen1234: what exactly is direct x 11 does gta 4 support it
MeAndMyHobbies: that would be perfect for nice gaming rig! good luck man!
MeAndMyHobbies: go for the processing power. get the quad core with a 4890, because with a dual core the 5850 won't be able to do too much.
MeAndMyHobbies: the q6600 is a quad, not dual core sir. but yeah i got a quad core now, and it runs great on maximum settings!
MeAndMyHobbies: i'm using a single 5850.
MeAndMyHobbies: haha i have a new one now. phenom II x4 965 BE 3.4 ghz 125 watt stepping! plus 4gb of DDR3.
MeAndMyHobbies: directx 11 is the newest version of directx from microsoft. gta 4 uses directx 9. the only games available as of today that use directx 11 are DiRT 2, BattleForge, and the benchmark for the new stalker game. type in DirectX on wikipedia to learn more. basically, the newer versions of directx give developers the tools they need to create stunningly realistic games.
multimodder: dx 11 is and graphic boost it is only changing textures why not gta iv too
multimodder: dude get an quad you cpu is only sloowing your card down thats terribly
boonpaLindved: Amd 965 Black Edition, HD 5850, 8Gb ddr3 ram.
rane6666: Im gonna buy phenom2 965 soon too and maybe oc it littlebit :) :D ...then IV should run just fine..
rane6666: Hey how IV works now =)? Tell me.. im gonna buy that processor too.. and im playing iv also =)
NikacXMKD: Yup the same here, mine e5200 dual core runs it like shit, but my 9800GT doesn't have any problems with running newer games on highest settings but my CPU is really bottlenecking my GPU :( Gonna get an AMD II X4 3.2 Ghz soon XP
Mrlassit: either get the newer 965 rated for 125W or buy a 955 cause the older 965 rated at 140W is the same chip as the 955, just factory o/c'ed
