Recovery Strategies for MMA (including intro to Tai Chi) Video
MMA fighters more than anyone need excellent strategies to maximize recovery from hard training.
MMA beats the muscles and joints up so without proper recovery, your performance will be limited.
Proper sleep at the same time every night is ideal, something like 11-7am or midnight-8am, as long as you're getting 7 hours most nights and then you can sleep in once in a while that would be great.
Eating enough quality, natural, whole foods will help recovery immensely.
Also - finding types of movement such as Tai Chi, which is featured in this clip, will help to keep the blood flowing and help calm the mind which is crucial to your overall recovery strategy.
Either way, think of proper recovery as being just as important as strength and conditioning, especially if you want your career to last.

alexwellington19: Thanks Eric. Thats exactly what I need to do after 4 years of study and mma training.
Ronnock: One of my favorite videos on youtube and more martial artist (ESPECIALLY this new generation of MMAist and combative artist in general) need to take this to heart. This is incredibly imperative for all martial artist to know.
Ronnock: I would also like to add though, that if you can do it in a nice grassy area like Eric's parents did, do it barefoot. Being connected better with yourself and the earth while doing meditative sequences is much more beneficial. In my opinion at least.
ericwongmma: Would have been good but it's fall and it was COLD!
Ronnock: Very True! Heheh. Didn't really think about that. =?
goddabest: that place behind you I dont know where it is but it looks pwety awesome for recovery
ericwongmma: It's near Parry Sound, Ontario... Cottage country... I've been very lucky to have been going up there since I was 9... Beautiful spot and I've caught some mean fish in that lake too. :)
