PianoRay's Biography in brief :-
Ray left school and worked at Sydney radio station 2GB with John Laws. At this time Ray realised his talents were going to be with what he knew best. Playing the piano This was the start of his professional music career.
Later Ray joined up with John Whitehouse, forming the band Peter Brown and the Cascades, playing the Sydney night club circuit, dance halls and leagues clubs.
He joined and toured with the original Wickety Wak show band, along with Rick Springfield on guitar, Danny Finlay (drums) and Paul Shannon on Bass.
This was a whirlwind year for the band. Entertaning and appearing on many television shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Releasing a single called Billys bikie boys. Written by Johnny Young and Russell Morris. The breakup of the band meant new opputunites for all. Rick Springfield went on to join the Zoot . Danny formed a band with Colleen Hewitt.
Ray ventured into owning and operating, Justins Curry House at Bondi Beach. Playing gigs at the Mandarin Club along with Paul Goodman (bass) and Doug Gallagher drums.
Then opportunity to head overseas, landing himself a contract in Hong Kong as Entertainment Co-ordinater with a 10 piece band.
On returning to Sydney, Ray joined up with the International Show Band The Colonials. With the travel bug biting he ventured back overseas with the band and played his way around Norway, Denmark, Switzerland. The Abba circuit and ski resorts were included in this adventure.
Life at the time was great. Worked hard and partied hard.
Cruising around on Cruise ships and entertaining in England and the Pacific Islands a little later.
Then it was time to settle down and have a family. Three children later and the Windsor/Richmond tyre centre to keep him busy. Music and playing the piano was still the passion of my life.
PianoRay has always been known for giving anything a go. Moving to the Gold Coast and operating a licensed Motel also put Ray back into the music scene; He started playing with The Boogiemen. Paul Goodman, Vince Malouney and Mike Braxton. 5 years on he travelled to Naru as the event co-ordinator for the Naru Bicentennial celebrations.
Ray has played many gigs, tribute shows, including The Legends Show, corporate work, recording and numerous Australian tours.
Once again he is continuing his music passion.
