Leon Edward Panetta became the 19th Director of the Central Intelligence Agency on 13 February 2009. As Director, he leads the Agency and manages human intelligence and open source collection programs on behalf of the Intelligence Community.
Mr. Panetta has dedicated much of his life to public service. Before joining CIA, he spent 10 years co-directing with his wife, Sylvia, the Leon & Sylvia Panetta Institute for Public Policy, based at California State University, Monterey Bay. The Institute is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit center that seeks to instill in young men and women the virtues and values of public service. In March 2006, he was chosen as a member of the Iraq Study Group, a bipartisan committee established at the urging of Congress to conduct an independent assessment of the war in Iraq.
From July 1994 to January 1997, Mr. Panetta served as Chief of Staff to President Clinton. Prior to that, he was Director of the Office of Management and Budget, a position that built on his years of work on the House Budget Committee. Mr. Panetta represented Californias 16th (now 17th) Congressional District from 1977 to 1993, rising to Budget Committee chairman during his final four years in Congress.

Cr8zyCanuck: Thanks for the reply, although I am a freethinker and I open my mind to reasonable evidence. I understand things appear as if government control (during the aftermath and the hearings lead by Bush's right hand man) has played a part in covering up this disaster attack. Actually it has played a role. I'm reasoning that there were cover ups as to continue justification for the war in Iraq; to capitalize on the opportunity at hand to invade the mid-east. Why do cover ups mean self inflicted wounds?
Cr8zyCanuck: What does the progressive cover up of information mean? Does it always or most of the time mean the government is 100% responsible. I think we know it's unreasonable to assume because they hid information from the public that 9/11 is self inflicted. I think indirectly it may have been wished on. However why must be inference the government was 100% behind the actual terrorist attack?
Cr8zyCanuck: Also the conservative media took advantage of fear to promote war I do not argue that. There is and was gain for George bush and/or his affiliates in invading the middle east. Sept. 11th will be settled one day. I'm not closing my mind to a conspiracy, but the idea of one will remain not fully credible until all the information is examined by the public. We invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, continue to put leverage on Iran, and our doing our best to tell Pakistan how it should use it's military in our war. Regardless the whole religious fight was started by Europe's pent up testosterone after much of Europe converted to Christianity. Not to mention the slaughter of both Jewish and Muslim civilians in Jerusalem by Christians through the first two crusades. At least the "death cult" of Islam spared the civilians after retaking the city even if it was for ransom.
