My First Solo / 私の初単独飛行 Video
The cockpit view of a pilot trainee's first-ever solo flight, conducted at Reid-Hillview Airport (KRHV) in San Jose, CA, during training towards the FAA Private Pilot Certificate. The airplane is a Cessna 152.
米国連邦航空局の自家用パイロット免許を目指した訓練課程において、カリフォルニア州サンノゼ市にあるリード・ヒルビュー空港で敢行された初単独飛行のコックピット映像。機種はセスナ152型。
luckyday31: Congratulations man!
AirAccord: Thanks!
matty1992101: where did you place the camera in the aircraft to get this view, and how did you record ATC communications?
AirAccord: The camera was mounted on an ordinary tripod, secured to the baggage area (which is immediately behind the seats since the Cessna 152 is a 2-seater airplane) using bungee cords and the plane's built-in hooks for tying stuff down.
AirAccord: The audio from the intercom/radio was tapped directly from one of the plane's headphone jacks using a Y-splitter cable (which is standard equipment at our flight school, as we encourage students to make audio recordings of their flights, so that they can later utilize the ATC audio as well as conversations with the instructor as study material on the ground).
AirAccord: Actually, there was one more trick to the audio. I used a separate external microphone and a portable audio mixer to incorporate the ambient sound of the cockpit. Otherwise, had I plugged the Y-splitter cable directly into the camera's external microphone input, it would have been silent when I wasn't talking and there wasn't anything on the radio, which would have been pretty boring.
matty1992101: Thank you very much for the response
SNiperAlo: Very well done video. I did my first solo flight last week and uploaded a video of it. Its not as well done as this, but still does its justice. :)
AirAccord: Thank you, and congratulations on your own solo. Good luck on your checkride!
AsSaSsIn135: Impressive landing!
fayik123: was that a bird flying onto the screen at 2:57
AirAccord: Thank you! To be honest, however, I squirm watching these landings today (I am now a Private Pilot and Advanced Ground Instructor) — the longitudinal axis/runway centerline alignments are quite off, among other things. But again, this was my first solo from over 5 years ago...
AirAccord: Yes, indeed -- I actually remember seeing it. Bird strikes rarely cause seriously accidents, but you really don't want to fly into those fellow aviators (obviously). One of the most common damages caused by bird strikes (in fact, we had one of these at our flight school) are cracked windshields. Pretty scary if you're actually on the plane.
AirAccord: ご視聴ありがとうございます。 はい、日本人です(一応・・・)。
