~*~PLEASE COMMENT!~*~ Railfanning action on 10/08/2009!

Today, I spent a portion of my rainy Thursday on the EJ&E (now CN).

Scene 1: At the yard, GTW GP38-2 4927 performs some switching, meeting EJ&E SD38-2 656, which is also performing some switching. A classic meet!

Scene 2: EJ&E 656 brings another cut of cars east out of the yard.

Scene 3: A little east of the yard, State Line loads thunder up the hill, behind a trio of noisy EMD's, the leader being EJ&E SD38-2 668. What a sight and sound!

Scene 4: We followed the State Line a little further east, catching him on the outer edges of Joliet.

Scene 5: On the way home, we heard GTW 4927 getting ready to go east, up the hill with the Smurfitt Stone Local. We got off I-80 and headed to a nearby location. We got it working hard to keep its short train going. First time I've ever seen a GTW working up the hill!

Scene 6: After being home for a while, I had my scanner on and heard JSW1 getting ready to come off the River Line in Plainfield. "Yay, an EJ&E", I think to myself. I was mistaken. CN SD70I 5615 leads the way south. On this line, CN runs the locomotive long hood forward heading north. It would have been weird seeing a 70I LHF when it made its northbound trip in the morning.

Enjoy and thank you very much for watching!
