Volkswagen Golf replacing the starter Video
I made a mistake... all 3 bolts for the starter are connected to the motor mount, kinda a silly setup if you ask me but at any rate made one hell of a difference
madmantrucker: 1st yes
TheMilitarynut: cool man. Congrats.
codylovesfords: im not likin the gettin dark earlier either lol it sucks
iamalexcourtney: 2nd yes?
wagner59270: 3rd friggin sweet LOL
atcklx: nice as allways
DannysCam: lol
lynstly: couldn't agree more, short days are depressing lol
kjm1983: Wayne, those Jettas and Golfs have a cold start knob on the dash behind the spot your hand would be at 9 or 10 position. Pulling it out advances the pump timing and increases the idle speed, makes for easier starting. Only use it when the engine is cold though.
roygump: would have been nice to learn more than the fact that the bolt goes through to a motor mount. I had hoped he was going to show Taking the starter off and replacing. O well.
matts6887: Gotta hand it to ya Wayne; u certainly are handy around the shop my friend!!! But I guess then again ya gotta be handy in the shop because of all the farm equipment ya have(trucks, etc). And as always; keep the good videos coming!!! :)

Righty736: Hah you use a flip video. Great camera!
coffeefish: Oh yes, the joy of a new starter :)
Lumpi0375: Hello, even if you replaced the starter, the engine doesn't start immediately. We've had several similar Diesel Volkswagen in our familiy years ago and all of them started immediately. Your problem might be solved for the moment but there seems to be another problem left. Best regards, form Germany
friedtma: Hey so thanks for the info now i know how to put a starter in.., what is a starter!!!LOL
locknload4: What year is that golf? I recently inherited (from uncle who finally upgraded) his '92 jetta, diesel, with the inline 4 cylinder diesel, not turboed. It needs a new starter, i installed it correctly, but neither of us know how the wiring goes, he can't remember and the manual doesn't say. Any tips? Help? I could maybe post a video response if that would help you diagnose my problem. Starter sounds as if it is spinning and not engaging the flywheel. Please Help! Cheers!
wagner59270: hey dude sorry I dont think I will be able to help you much this golf is an 86 and to be honest I know very little about VWs if it helps this starter was a 2 terminal with 2 large wires going to the large terminal and one small clip going to a spade terminal... made it really hard to mess up
