Pete Law Interview Part 2 at the 2009 Reno Air Races Video

From the Plane & Pilot series at the 2009 Reno National Championship Air Races. This is part two of a five part interview that aviation writer Tim Kern did with Aviation Engineer and Legend Pete Law. Pete talks about the different types of engines used in todays unlimited air racers and what it takes to get the most power out of them with todays technology, including work on the Yak racer Czech Mate piloted by Sherman Smoot. Pete talks about how his work with the Pratt & Whitney engineers on the jet engines for the A-12 were many of the same people who built the piston radials used on the unlimited racers and assisted in some tips and tricks to make them more powerful. Pete talks about Shockwave a new plane being built and what the possibilities are for the future of these types of planes in unlimited racing. Pete dispels some of the myths about how to get more power and speed out of an engine and airframe.
