Henry Smalls had a near death experience that changed his life while growing up in the ghettos of Philadelphia. Today he is one of the best Kendo practitioners in the world and living in Hawaii.

This is the last feature story on KHNL, NBC Hawaii News 8 as well as for anchor Diane Ako and videojournalist Tracy Arakaki. This heart warming story aired on October 22, 2009. Right before KHNL and its sister station KFVE and their entire news family was changed forever.
