pretecsh: Well done. I like the painting analogy.
FatGermanBastard: I'm not a Christian but I think your video suffers from an equivocation fallacy. The atheistic morality you describe is descriptive morality. The Christian argument is that atheists can not have intrinsic morality. Christians usually do not deny that atheists can have morality in the descriptive sense. So you and them are talking about different things and you are not really addressing their argument.
InLucidReverie: The video's aim was to present alternatives to intrinsic or divine morality, not to formally compare. And typically, the Christian argument is not that Atheists do not have divine morality, but that they falsely reject its existence. The apologist won't assume that the atheist kills, but that he doesn't kill because God has written morals into his heart/DNA/soul.
ahmarsidd: "the Christian argument is not that Atheists do not have divine morality" Christian stand (it least when it comes to refuting atheism) is that objective morality exists and its origins.
bananabread119: What a wonderful video! Hey what music is this?
bananabread119: @FatGermanBastard Atheism and Ethical Nihilism, are non sequiturs to eachother.. I'd say your committing the fallacy!
FatGermanBastard: That's a straw man because I never said ethical nihilism follows from atheism deductively.
bananabread119: @FatGermanBastard I apologize I misread your position. I would still disagree tho that the whole of Christianity postulates this argument of intrinsic morality. They derive more popularly from "divine command theory!" I think your more deriving from value theory! But don't quote me on that! Umm but I think he was on par. I think he was rather ranting than addressing.
FatGermanBastard: I would say divine command theory is a value theory. The claim is that God is intrinsically good and that is why his commands are binding. Of course not all Christians argue this but most Christian apologists do.
