2009 Breeders Cup Juvenile Colts Dirt - Vale Of York Video

In dramatic fashion, a juvenile from Europe beat the best American 2-year-old on the wire in the Breeders Cup Juvenile (gr. I). Vale of York stuck his neck out ahead of Lookin At Lucky to take the $2-million race.

Vale of York, ridden by Ahmed Ajtebi, had a perfect trip while Lookin at Lucky, under Garrett Gomez, broke from the outside in the 13-horse field and was wide the entire way.

Piscitelli made the lead out of the gate and was joined by D' Funnybone, with Ajtebi settling Vale of York in third. Gomez took Lookin at Lucky, the 2-1 favorite, off the pace because of the wide trip but he was always traveling well.

The field ran a quarter-mile in :24.26 and a half in :48.78. On the turn for home, Noble's Promise and Willie Martinez, who had been sitting in fourth, moved up and took the lead when the field straightened down the lane.

lengua92: Another hell of a race here! Fantastic ride by Godolphin's rider. I heard he is a former camel rider. Well, he has just won the race of his life, definitely.
Nextannouncer: Man, what happened to D Funnybone??
sagerider2: What happened is the dirt mile is NOT on dirt. That's synthetic surface, which is more like grass. That's why European grass horses are racing in non grass events.
GretchErick: great race, but I don't expect the top finisher to be in the derby next yr....they're synthetic runners......I'm glad that Churchill will host the BCup nxt yr.... I feel bad we didn't see the real D Funnybone
TheX6M: amazing race by godalphin and amazing performance by ajtibi .this boy has a crizma I know him personelly and he has a great dream .thanks for shk mohammed for his support .
Willyrooster: sheik mohammed has no talent, he has money- little suprised that there was no objection, Vale of york took Dfunnybone's path
mommysgirl100000: i hit that exacta euros and filly's are better than u.s males, its a weak division especially on polycrap
