ShowMeTheJake: i like the water color. it looks windy there so do u use a windproof mic

wavesdvdcom: oh yes, I use both a foam padding and a fake furry around the mic that helps protect the mic up to 20mph winds. I also have to remove the bass rumble from the wind with the EQ. Since normal waves do not reach -80db, you don't miss it when I cut it out. Big Waves, thats another story.

MoviesMusicNature: Interesting info.... I battle with the wind alot in my vids but I'm a novice and not sure what to use so hearing what you said helps... thanks..

wavesdvdcom: There are 2 things you can do. Get a good cheep furry for your camera and in post start dropping out the bass until the wind disappears... the rumble. the high end whistle is hard to remove but one can do it with trial an error with a 10 band eq in post. I then try to mix other ambient sounds back in that fill in the hole that one creates cutting frequencies out or down.

wavesdvdcom: Not only did I fix the sound, but I stabilized the shot with apples smoothcam in FCP... it saved the shot. The wind was blowing the camera. It is a bit softer but very watchable, HD is great for this as there is plenty of resolution to zoom in 2% and fix it. No way could I do this in STD definition, the whole shot would be soft.

MoviesMusicNature: Thanks for the advice! usually I just deleted the whole backround track if it were to bad and then put in a music track of some sort. It's only been four months since I started all this so it is fun learning what you can do and what may work. Thanks again!

remnant1978: I have been to maui five times...these videos make me sick, cause I can't be there....

remnant1978: When I first went to Maui as a 20 year old, I was thinking...these people probly don't die on this island, everything was so bright, and magnificent! it's too perfect and set apart from the rest of the world I am acquainted with, to be anything but paranormal...Then getting back to the mainland with it's filtered sunlight and soso weather was a special suicide event indeed, thanks for these videos, for they certainly reflect a great portion of the reality I remember of this gem in the Pacific.

wavesdvdcom: Last year around August. We shot 5 days on each island. All in 1080p HD with a 5.1 surround sound mic. Our new Blu-Ray blows these compressed web images away. you can guess where you can buy it... hint click on channel name. But, hey I don't want you to get sick?! But Im a sick SOB - LOL - enjoy.
