Al: Ill be right back.
N: Allie cmon.
Al: I just--- have to talk to him.
N: No you dont! You know he wants to go to the dance.
Al: -looks down-
N: -puts his hands up- Fine. Just go. Why should I care? -storms inside-
Al: -walks to the front yard- Oh my God!
T: I know right? I told Pops it was the best birthday present ever. Hop in. -pats this seat next to him-
Al: -bites her lower lip, looks at Nats house-
T: Why are you looking at that shack? Come on! Get in.
Al: -sits down-
T: Lets go. -drives away-
N: -looking out the window, sighs, shuts the curtain-
Q: She left?
N: -jumps, turns around- Oh man you scared me.
Q: Sorry. But she-
N: Left? Of course. -walks past him-
Q: Why? She was your date!
N: Apparently Tad is better than me.
Q: -nervous- Ok ok well you can still come with us-
N: Man I told you Im not going without a date.
D/T/A: -walk in-
T: Whats wrong?
Q: Allie stood Nat up.
D: What the hell is wrong with her?
N: Nothing. Its just her boyfriends got her in a headlock?
T: Boyfriend? I thought they broke up! Tad CHEATED on her.
N: Its complicated.
A: Sounds simple to me.
N: Listen guys, I DONT KNOW! Im not Allie ok? All I know is that our groups are too different and its what makes the difference.
Everyone: -silent-
Q: So what do we do now?
D: You should come Nat.
N: Ill just stay here. Im got some homework to catch up on and I have to go to work early tomorrow. You guys go. Seriously. Have fun. -smiles weakly-
Q/D/T/A: Fine. Bye Nat! -leaves-
N: -sighs, goes upstairs, playing his guitar when he looks over to Allies window and sees a note taped to it, he moves closer to the window to read it-
-It says: Dear Nat, I cant wait for the dance tonight, Im sure itll be a lot of fun but if you see this note then something happened and I know who it will be caused by. I just wish, like you, everyday now that things would be different and I know its my entire fault that theyre not. Im just compelled to be popular, but hopefully one day thatll change.-
N: -stares at the note, throws it on the ground, lays down on his bed-
-The Dance; all the guys are dancing with their dates-
-Allie is dancing with Tad-
T: -spots the girl he cheated on Allie with, smiles, lies- Ill be right back, punch. -walks away-
Al: -sighs, sees where he really went-
T: -starts making out with the girl, they run outside-
Al: -starts crying, runs outside to the back to get some air-
Q: -walks up to the soda table by her, grabs two cups, hands her one- Hi.
Al: Hi---?
Q: Qaasim.
Al: Sorry. I forgot.
Q: Its ok. You must have some nerve. -looks down-
Al: Excuse ME?
Q: Nats better than that ass you know.
Al: oh. That. You dont understand my situation.
Q: Care to explain?
Al: -pulls him outside- Im here on a scholarship.
Q: WHAT?! Youre rich!
Al: -shrugs- Seems like it. And we were until my dad spent all of our money on gambling.
Q: Oh.
Al: Yeah--- and Tads dad is the dean of admissions. When Tad over heard us talking about money, he forced me to date him because if I didnt he would tell his dad to break off the scholarship and knowing that Tads dad would do anything to make his son happy, he would do it.
Q: Wow. So why didnt you explain that to Nat?
Al: -shrugs- Never got the chance.
Q: -nods- I think you should tell him.
Al: I know. -looks down-
-Nat; staring at the costume, picks it up and observes-
-20 minutes later, Allies phone rings-
Al: -picks it up- Nat?
N: Hey. Turn around. -closes his phone-
Al: -turns around, sees Nat in his costume swinging on a swing outside, smiles, runs over to him- You came!
N: Qaasim told me it was important to talk to you.
Al; IT is. -explains the scholarship deal-
N: wow Allie I didnt know.
Al: I know. And its ok.
N: Wait so--- how do you break up with him?
Al: He has to break up with me I guess but no matter how many times he cheats on me, I have to remain loyal.
N: So cant you cheat on him?
Al: -shakes her head- Wont work that way.
N: then what?
Al: I dont know. I just have to do something that will revolt him.
N: I have an idea.
Al: Yeah?
N: Dance with me.
Al: -smiles- Nat youll get punched in the face.
N: -shrugs- Then dance with our entire group.
Al: Sure thatll do the trick?
N: -smiles, takes her hand- It better.
