When Skylar Met Jacob: Chapter Eleven, Part Two Video

"I've been missing you. I called your parents and they said I could stay here this weekend."
"Is Rachel with you?"
"No. She couldn't come."
"Aw. That sucks."
It was weird . . Him being here. I wonder if he still loves me? Or even likes me? But oddly, I had no feelings of him left in me anymore. It was like he was a faded memory locked inside a chest in the attic. Even
when I stared into his beautiful blue eyes, I didn't feel a thing.
"Wow. You've really changed, you know."
"I have?"
"Yeah! Look at your hair. And would it kill you to stop growing?"
"Ha. Yeah I guess I forgot about my muscles spazzing. I've been letting my hair grow longer. All of the girls seem to have that long hair here."
"I've noticed."
"Hey, why don't you two go walk around the neighborhood? I'm sure you have a lot of catching up to do," my mom called from the kitchen. She must be baking Sawyer's favorite. She always liked that kid.
"Sure."
We walked outside to the fresh air of California.
"Wow. I can't believe you're here, Sawyer!"
"I know. Pretty sweet, right? I'm suprised my parents let me. But since they love yours so much, they didn't think it was such a big deal."
"Yeah I'm sure."
"How was your last day of school?"
"It was great! Kind of sad, though. I have a lot of senior friends I'm going to miss." I sighed. "What about yours?"
"Oh you know, same old stuff. Things don't really change up there."
"Yep. So . . Rachel told me about you guys on our last phone call," I hinted.
"Ha. She told you, huh?"
I nodded.
"Actually, that was one of the reasons I wanted to come down here."
"You wanted to come down here so you could have permission to date her?"
"No, no! I didn't mean it like that. It's just. . I wanted to see for myself if you have, well, moved on."
"Have you?" I asked cautiously.
"Honestly?"
"Yes."
"For the most part, yeah. But if you haven't then . .-"
"Oh yes! Sawyer, I am SO over you."
"Well that's good news." He smiled. "So, Rachel likes me. She didn't right when you left so it wasn't like we went behind your back when you and I were dating. We just started hanging out after you moved and
it just happened."
"What happened? Feelings?"
"Yes . . And, um, we kissed."
"Oh."
"Yeah."
He finally interrupted the silence. "Does that bother you?"
"Not at all. I just think it's weird."
We both laughed. "Yeah, I guess it is weird. But you're okay with that right?"
"Of course. Whatever makes you guys happy makes me happy."
"You're the best, Skylar!" He paused. "So do you like anyone?"
"You really want to know?"
"Oh come on, duh! I've been dying to know what you've been up to lately."
"Before I tell you, why haven't you called me?"
"I thought you didn't want to talk to me."
"Why would you think that?"
"You were kinda mean when you left."
"Mean?"
"No, you just seemed like you didn't want to talk to me and that you were just ready to leave me."
"Sawyer, that would never happen. I've never wanted to leave you."
"I did love you."
"I know."
"But you didn't love me."
"No," I whispered
"Why didn't you tell me? Or break up with me, instead of leading me on?"
"You were my life. Just because I wasn't in love with you didn't mean I never liked you. I really did like you. I did feel bad for saying I love you when I didn't mean it. But I knew if I didn't say it, you'd be gone.
And that's not what I wanted to happen."
"I understand. Honestly, I don't know what I would've done if I left you. More than likely I'd come back anyways." He laughed.
"True."
"So tell me about your new lover."
"Ha, okay. Don't laugh?"
"I promise I won't."
"It's my neighbor. His name's Jacob."
"The kid that dropped you off?"
"Yep." I popped my mouth on the letter "p."
"Figures."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"I don't know. You just seem to fall for someone like him. Your best friend, neighbor, and all that crap."
"How did you know he was my best friend?"
"Your mom."
"Oh gosh! What did she say?"
"Just that she knows that you're so into him but you'd never admit it."
"Wow. I'm suprised my mom said that in front of my ex-boyfriend."
"It's your mom. She doesn't suprise me with anything anymore."
I laughed. "Yeah."
"So does Jacob know you like him?"
"I don't know . . Probably."
"Does he seem to like you back?"
"That one I have no clue about. There are moments every now and then that I can just tell he does, but then it goes back to normal in seconds."
"You should talk to him."
"No I shouldn't!"
"Why not?"
