Although I was born in Austin, Texas, I have lived in many places across the United States and now finally call Washington home. After leaving college in 1990, I entered the United States Navy as an engineering officer, serving on a guided missile cruiser in the Gulf War. It was after my service that I went back to the University of Texas for a second degree in zoology with a focus on ecology, followed by a certification in automotive mechanics while applying to medical school. I attended Southwestern University in Dallas, a top ten medical school at the time. After completing yearlong fellowship training in pathology and an internship in pediatrics, I completed residency in family medicine at the University of Tennessee Family Medicine Chattanooga unit.

The events of September 11th, then led me to volunteer for another tour of duty in the armed services. The second time around, I was in the United States Air Force as a family physician at the Air Force Academy Hospital, where treated patients of all ages, both in and out of the hospital. It was also during this time that I deployed to Kuwait and later to Kyrgyzstan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

My practice philosophy involves endeavoring to provide the highest standard of up-to-date care for patients in a manner that involves explaining disease processes clearly and simply so that patients can understand their medical options in treatment. I promote a problem-focused, patient-centered model of care.

When I am not in the office, I am often home in Bonney Lake with my wife. We enjoy bike riding, literature, kayaking, rock climbing and gardening. My long-range goals are to increase my efforts in promoting educational opportunities for children, improving healthcare availability, continuing travel for medical missions, and practicing in the local area for many years to come.
