~*~PLEASE COMMENT!~*~ BLAZING HOT RAILFANNING ACTION ON 10/19/2009!
Lots of cool catches today!
M301 rolls north through Joliet, passing under I-55. Powering the train is CN SD75I 5780, CN SD70M-2 8827, CN SD70I 5619 and BCOL (CN) C40-8M 4615. Filmed on the CN Leithton Sub.
Right behind M301 was the northbound JSW1, powered by classic EJ&E SD38-2 663. Filmed in Joliet, on the CN Leithton Sub.
With the fall colors exploding with beauty, a pair of matching BNSF Dash 9's, 5258 and 4982, roll south with a trackage rights stack train. Filmed in Crest Hill, on the CN Leithton Sub.
Y JOL101 heads east through Lockport, slowing down to switch out the spur line in the foreground. Powering the train is BN GP50 3134 and ATSF GP39-2 2842. ATSF caboose 769 brings up the rear. The next set up scenes show the local performing its switching duties. Notice at 2:04, when the crew says "Keep our eye out for NicTrain down there." What would a Saturday be in Lockport without my three buddies? It's nice to know that there are railroaders out there as nice as these guys. As the local is heading back west to Joliet, a westbound intermodal flies by, powered by BNSF Dash 9's 4609, 5453 and 973, and BNSF SD70ACe 9306. Filmed on the BNSF Chillicothe Sub.
Amtrak P42DC 46 leads the southbound, Lincoln Service 303 through Lockport. Filmed on the CN Joliet Sub.
Back down on the BNSF Chillicothe Sub, BNSF ES44DC 7281 and BNSF Dash 9's 965 and 4617 lead an eastbound intermodal at a good clip.
Now at the old EJ&E Yard, we see some good action. EJ&E SD38-2 658 and CN SD40-2W 5338 are bringing the Line Train (CN L515) into the yard, meeting patched SP AC4400CW 6381 and UP AC4400CW 6769 and an eastbound, loaded coal train (powered by a pair of UP AC4400CW's), waiting for permission to cross The Rock. Best of all, a classic EJ&E meet took place. EJ&E SD38-2 664 pulled out of the yard at the perfect time.
Now at the CN Joliet Sub in Joliet, we see the inbound, Amtrak Lincoln Service 302 slowly picking up speed out of Joliet Station. I was quite delighted when I saw the old, Amtrak Phase III NPCU 90222 in charge. Amtrak P42DC 28.
Up above on the BNSF Chillicothe Sub, we see an eastbound intermodal passing by with BNSF ES44DC 7307 and BNSF Dash 9's 4340, 1106 and 772. Filmed in Joliet.
UP AC4400CW 6769 and patched SP AC4400CW 6381 lead northbound Will County coal empties through Joliet, bound for West Chicago. Filmed on the CN Leithton Sub.
CN SD75I 5636 and clean CN SD70M-2 8007 lead the southbound M342 through Joliet. Filmed on the CN Leithton Sub.
Right behind M342 was the southbound JSW1, passing through Crest Hill, returning home to Joliet. EJ&E SD38-2 663 is rolling right along.
Now, here we are just west of Coal City. The eastbound Q FTMCOL rolls along, powered by NS C40-9W's 9053 and 9405.
Next, it was off to Mazon. A westbound stack train out of LPC highballs through town with BNSF ES44DC 7746 and BNSF Dash 9 4920 up front and BNSF ES44DC 7787 and BNSF Dash 9 4566 pushing hard as the DPU's.
Now, here we are in Coal City, a little further north. The eastbound M GALGYI highballs through town, powered by three BNSF Dash 9's and a CN C40-8M.
We are now off to the outer edges of Coal City. The gates were lowering as we arrived. I heard the sound of a Leslie horn and knew that it was the L CHI101. Sweet power today! A BNSF B40-8W is in charge, followed by an ATSF GP40X (woah!) and a BNSF GP38-2.
Thank you very much for watching!

RailFanDavid: i like how the crew mentioned you on the radio. looks like you had a great day.
